I look for us buckeyes to come in at least 3rd in the TVC this year! We have the talent and as a senior I will help to push the younger guys so that we won't get embarressed this year! No one thinks of NY as being a baseball school but this year im hopeing will be different! Can't wait for the season to come around but until then basketball...

Nelsonville Greyhounds - 1967 Class B State Champions in baseball. The state championship win was the last game for any Greyhound team, as they became the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes in the fall of '67.

Nelsonville used to be a baseball school, so I think it can be again one day.

Were they considered a Class B school or Class A school by 1967?

NYBuckeye96....That's some good and interesting info about the old NY team. Would make for a good topic about the baseball history of all the current TVC schools (current teams and pre-consolidation teams). I know that the Middleport Yellow Jackets (part of Meigs) won the state championship back in 1957. The current school Meigs has made it to the state finals twice to my knowledge...1976 and 1996.

From what I can tell from old records, it was called Class B in baseball in 1967. At least that is what I have read, it was way before my time! :-D

Concerning the history of the TVC teams, I think that is a good idea as well. I just think that it's kind of awesome that the very last sporting event for any high school sport for the old Nelsonville Greyhounds was a state championship win!!! How cool is that? Talk about going out on top! :-D
