Warren VS New Lex Scrimmage

Post by Cap'n Scoop »

Very miserable baseball conditions. Started out just cold then turned rainy to windy and snowy. Varsity went about 9 or 10 innings, the jv's 4 or 5 in the middle. Warren's varsity looked like they were playing in bad conditions and had not seen live pitching yet...not a very inspired effort. The New Lex varsity, who had not been outside looked decent. Warren scored more in the first session but New Lex shut them out in the second. Not a lot of hitting going on for either team. Most of the pitchers struggled some probably due to the cold. Warren has a lot of work to do to equal the successes of the past few seasons.

The lineup looked like this:
1) Spence
2) Hooper
3) Wagner
4) Ward
5) Lemon
6) Adams
7) Murphy
8) Heiss
9) Nicholas/Pettit/Proctor

The Warrior JV's showed some promise...lots of Freshman.

Wagner was 2-4 with a HR, Lemon and Adams each had a hit. Quite a few walks. Spence lined out a couple of times, as did Heiss and a few others.

Ward and Wagner each pitched 3 innings giving up 2 runs apiece. Wagner's runs were unearned. Lemon pitched an inning and threw with a lot of velocity and movement. Hooper, Heiss and Pettit all threw about an inning too.
