ATHENS JV (2) @ LOGAN JV (3)...

Post by questionmark »

The Athens JV Dogs blow (2-0) lead, then lose to the host JV Chiefs...

ATHENS JV - 001 100 0 2 5 2
LOGAN JV - 000 300 0 3 6 1

WP- Glick
LP - Zoulek

Athens started Andrew Zoulek who went the distance for the JV Dogs. Zoulek pitched quite well for Athens, striking out 4, walking only 1 and only allowing 6 hits. He suffered the loss after the JV Dogs blew the (2-0) in the 4th.
Logan started Glick who also went the distance for the Chiefs. Glick also pitched quite well, allowing 5 hits, 6 walks and striking out 6.

1st Inning, Athens managed to load the bases, but stranded all 3 runners.
In the bottom half, Logan was shut down 1-2-3 by Athens Pitcher Andrew Zoulek.
2nd inning, Athens went 1-2-3 being shut down by Logan Pitcher Glick.
In the bottom half, Logan again was shut down 1-2-3 by Zoulek.
3rd inning, Athens finally got things rolling. After McCollum was issued a walk, Dean Maffin would deliever a big double scoring McCollum. However, Maffin would be stranded on third.
In the bottom half, Logan would get one runner, but would leave him stranded on first.
4th inning, Athens would get Gerren on to lead the inning. Gerren would then take 2nd and 3rd and then later score on a wildpitch. That would be it for the JV Dogs in the inning.
In the bottom half, Logan would captialize on some key Athens mistakes. Logan would get runners on first and third with one out. Logan would send the runner on first. Athens would then throw through looking to make an easy out of the runner trying to steal 2nd. However, miscommuniction with the middle infielders would leave the throw going into center. So instead of leading the game (2-1) with 2 outs and no one on, Athens found themselves tied (2-2) with one out and a runner on third who would later score in the inning.
5th inning, Athens would get one runner on, but could do nothing to advance him.
In the bottom half, Logan would get two runners on, but would leave them stranded.
6th inning, Athens would get runners to 3rd and 2nd. The runner on 3rd being the tying run with the runner on 2nd being the go ahead run. However, Athens would leave them stranded.
In the bottom half, Zoulek would shut down Logan 1-2-3. Would this be the spark Athens needed.
In the 7th, Athens managed to get runners on 2nd and 3rd. Unfortunately, that would be as far as the runners would get.
Logan wins (3-2)...
