Any word on who is coaching this year? Heard they are bringing in a new staff again.

If they do, this is one reason they fail to put a winner on the field!

Temporary fill in for a year. Several people have heard that Bo Janey was going to be the Varsity coach again.

Bo Janey is the Varsity head coach again. Pat Williams is the only returning coach from last years staff and he is the head JV coach. Still looking for two more to assist from what I've been told.

Brian Breining returning to assist Varsity. Two coaches returning from last year, maybe the revolving door is slowing down. Told they have several returning at both varsity and jv level. Williams has a 10u travel team also. Playing in Lancaster league that is Cal Ripken certified. Has team registered with Nations Baseball. 5 tournaments scheduled already. Kids playing from April-October. Big believer that you have to have a solid youth program to have a successful high school program. If more people did this the program would turn around. His 10u team will play around 50 games easy this summer. That's where it starts.

Just hope he is given a chance to turn the program around. Where this program is right now it won't happen overnight. Give it a few years with the same coaching staff. Measuring stick will be how they are in a few years when the 10u team arrives at the high school. They will be the first class in a long time that has played "real" baseball against tough competition in several years. Not Logan Rec ball. Lot of JV kids playing again because he is back.

Sometimes just being part of the program can help bring along change. If he has success at the jv level it can lead to success at the varsity level.

To many people become complacent with situations. So much easier to sit back and watch and criticize. I've talked to Coach Williams on several occasions and he is very passionate about changing things. problem is there are to many roadblocks. People don't want to change or refuse to change or just don't care. People get tired of beating their heads against a brick wall and just say enough, it's not worth it. When the rec league refused to even consider any kind of change (which they have for years) he said fine and packed up and went elsewhere. It's a shame when a Logan High School coach has to take a team elsewhere to play quality baseball and teach future Logan High players. Hopefully someday people will realize it shouldn't be that way. Nice to see someone who is dedicated enough to try.

Littlechiefs, let's keep pounding the drum, remember never ever give up! Also it took God 7 day's to create the Earth, it might take 7 years to change the sports programs at LHS!

Standard response from the rec league. I know that they approached a board member about being able to use a field for travel ball as a home field. They were told that technically there was no reason that they couldn't as long as it didn't interfere with rec ball. But were also told that they would meet resistance on it and would be told no. They offered to pay and do maintenance on the field as well as pay for lighting for night games and put up a scoreboard. Same response. It would be a fight and no. Can you imagine the buzz around town if we had a youth team playing a night game? That would get a lot of kids wanting to play baseball just for that opportunity. More teams would pop up. They asked why they don't turn on the lights on those fields for baseball and were told that they were to expensive to use. They turn them on for flag football though don't they. Someone or group seems to have a major dislike for the sport. It is a public park. Why can't they use it especially if they are PAYING FOR IT. There are so many more examples of this sort of response to any kind of change from so many other people as well. Now that money goes out of town. They were told that kind of baseball is unfair because not all of the kids could do it. Not all kids would want to do it. There are a lot of kids that just want to play rec ball but there are a lot of kids that also want to do more and they have no opportunity to do so. Unless more people are willing to do what coach williams is doing our kids will never be able to develop into competitive baseball players.
