There are some intense rivalries in the TVC Hocking, but one thing is for sure, when postseason play starts, TVC pulls for TVC. Would love to see the TVC represented in Columbus.

Eastern beats Waterford 6-0. All 6 runs with 2 outs in the 2nd inning. Eastern has effectively clinched at least a share of the TVC Title. (Assuming they defeat Federal Hocking Thursday). This Friday will be the de facto conference championship game between Eastern and Southern. (If Eastern wins they win it outright, Southern and Eastern would split the league title with a Southern win).

In case anyone was curious about what’s happening in the Central District given that the winner out of the Central District would thereby be Eastern’s opponent in the Sweet 16, the semifinals are BU v FC & Centerburg v GCC. Centerburg did fairly well in what was one of the toughest small-school conferences in baseball this year, GCC has been bringing the bats lately; Fisher has won 13 of the last 14 (loss to Lancaster, #8 seed in D1 for central) and BU is very solid having split with FC and GCC.

I’m looking forward to seeing Eastern at beautiful Beavers Field. Good luck to the Eagles on their road to Huntington, they will definitely deserve it.

What do those teams look like?

Both teams are really solid. Centerburg is better, though. Centerburg has played a very tough schedule thusfar; imagine a very solid D4 playing in the SVC (Scioto Valley Conference) or TVC-Ohio and faring well. They have three very good players and a remaining core who is solid.

Fisher has two very good pitchers and a good 1-9 batting order. The issue with FC is they strand a LOT of runners in scoring position.

Sounds like Eastern vs Centerburg would be a great matchup

Centerburg is good! They had their hands full in the district as they beat Grove City then knocked off Fisher Catholic. Eastern is in this game for a reason and I look for it to be one to remember. No doubt in my mind they can win!

FC got doomed in the first inning. Two passed balls enabled Centerburg’s four runs in the inning. Go-ahead run from Centerburg made possible because the FC right fielder took a step in, instead of a step back, on a fly ball in deep right field (I estimate 365 feet, as that corner is 380”) and dropped it because he got out of position. FC coach had his (very good) DH hitting for the center fielder, who is playing D3 ball (Capital) next year, instead of... well, let’s not go there. FC strands 7 RISP to Centerburg’s 1 RISP stranded, and the Irish out-hit the Trojans 12-6 and had zero errors to CHS’s two.

Aggravating loss to say the least. But, that was a great game to watch if you were a baseball fan. Lots of credit to Centerburg, though. That is a very good team. #20 is one of the best player’s I’ve seen in recent years... he’s a good southpaw.

(At least I won’t have to read the “private/public” rehash for the 206th time if it were FC/Eastern. Fourteen seniors for FC... ouch!)
