Seems his grades have improved, so maybe the problem was just a lack of focus, or maybe too much going on during basketball/baseball/extra basketball....glad he's grades are heading back in the direction he wants
It's a little different staying at a school that is treating you the way they have treated him.

Follow the rules that his baseball coach and he would been on baseball team. Seem like to me he has trouble follow the rules
I'd say you are thankful for what has happened, you are more then likely off the bench now that he is gone...maybe you were one of the players that tattled...just saying.

And did this rule apply to the 3 other boys that were playing basketball the same day at another place? Pretty sure that first week of practice he went to weren't mandatory, but that's beside the point!!!

Expecting him to follow rules and expecting him to perform in the classroom? Didn't realize that was cruel treatment.

Just a random thought here, but:

Maybe throw yourself on your sword, mea culpa style, tell coach and players you are sorry for disrespecting the rules and ask forgiveness. Sit out 6-8 games at Meigs for "punishment". Be at all the practices and games, help warm up people, be the first out of the dugout to congratulate, someone etc. etc., take a freshman or sophomore under his wing and help out the team while you wait until you get a chance to see field.

Graduate from your "home" school and get right.

Heartfelt apology from an 18 year old kid goes a long way.

I have watched him since he started the "lightning delay" game at Jackson and led Meigs back from a 4-1 deficit or whatever it was. We were supposed to go to Zanesville that year and he shut us down. Lot of respect for a freshman that does that.

Say your sorry, ask for forgiveness and see what happens. I doubt the cause is entirely lost. Kid deserves to be in Maroon and on the bump come playoff time. Just a thought. Wish him well.

I do not disagree with that post one single bit. The only problem I see is that too often we see parents trying to bail kids out of problems rather than letting them learn from the consequences. When kids are taught it's easier to run from the issue or seek greener pasture, you see a decline in taking responsibility for their actions and making things right. I will agree apologies go a very long way coming from an 18-year-old, but what would really be the defining factor, is a young man doing the other things you mentioned. If a kid SHOWS he feels remorse, and SHOWS he is willing to be a part of the program no matter the contribution, that is when you have a special young man.

Yep Fonzie, parents sometimes make it worse trying to make it better. It happens, no idea about this situation at all and really look at this from the young man's POV.

Hey, he's been a successful 3-sport athlete for 4 years. Kid naturally has some moxie (cockiness) that a lot of kids possess. He is a senior and all of us and I do mean all of us know what that means - sometimes you get big for your britches.

Throw in injury in football and the basketball situation and now you have frustration on top of all that other stuff.

Take the punishment, get knocked down a peg or two and just deal with it. Dad go sit it the stands and relish the final sport of the final year and enjoy it man. Just think (without knowing all the facts and I don't need to or want to know for that matter) it is time to walk in and say I screwed up what can I do to fix it.

I wish him the best of luck moving forward. Heck maybe try moving. Wouldn't be open enrollment if your address changes. Wahama, RV, Southern, Gallia Academy, SG, and might as well throw in Athens. Several of those programs have a good chance of winning some games. Not sure who is more academically forgiving.

Well, Ol'Bud, it appears that on Wednesday, March 14 at 11:37 am, I asked when the scrimmages were. Last I checked this is the baseball forum, and scrimmages would most definitely be a relevant topic. So not too sure what you're issue is. Do you know when the scrimmages are? Have a great day.

Mattox was not accepted at Eastern for bad grads and also was called a "Bad Influence"

You've missed the point with my last post. I had already asked a question related to the "relevant" topic. So you're need to "call me out" was not needed. But that is okay. I'm sorry you feel I have said anything that might have offended you. To my knowledge, I have expressed my opinion, which last I checked was still a perk of free speech.

Now that we have that cleared up, I would like to know who Eastern scrimmages and the dates for those games. I do believe even without the boost of Mattox, they still have to be a favorite for the top spot in the league.

I tend to not put much credit in an account that was created 15 minutes prior to posting something that seems to be intended to stir the pot.

Maddox is a non-factor this year. Just another kid with a gift who got in his own way. Looking forward to another great year of baseball for the Marauders.

No he has not applied anywhere else.
Well what is he waiting on? Get those applications in quickly! Waiting around will only delay the process of him signing his D1 scholarship or possibly being drafted straight into the majors?

Or is his heart still leaning towards basketball?
Does.it feel good to be a grown adult taking jabs at a kid?
