East played with Clay every step of the way till the 5th inning. With 2 outs a couple of runners on and two costly errors on East's side...I was very impressed with the lady tartans they didn't let those errors get them down. They played great defensive except for that inning. Was getting the bat on the ball just hitting the ball right to them.End score 2-0.. East plays Western at home tomorrow.. Good Job Ladies! Come back out tomorrow and get back on that winning streak!!! They are now 5-1.
East over Minford 14-0. South Gallia over Minford 12-0.(?) South Gallia over East 8-7.
East played well in the first game. Got lazy and cocky in the beginning of the second game got behind 7-0 came back in the last inning. At least 8 errors for East and bats didn't come out intil the last inning. Lets get our heads back in the game ladies!! Play Notre Dame on Wednesday.
With a team featuring just one junior and one senior, East has had its fair share of slow starts this season.
On Friday night, East figured out the start, but the finish wasn't what the Lady Tartans were looking for, falling 9-8 to Eastern Pike.
Eastern rallied from an early 7-0 deficit to notch a 9-8 win at home Friday night. Rachel Staker got the win, striking out seven batters. She helped her own cause by knocking in the game-winning run with a single into left on a 2-1 count in the final inning.
Staker finished the game with three hits and the RBI. Anna Mills went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Haley Fisher led the East offense, going 4-for-5 with a pair of runs and two RBIs. Brittany Swords had three hits and three runs. The Tartans managed just one run after the first two innings, but it did tie the game in the top of the seventh.
"I thought we came out and hit the ball extremely well the first two innings," East coach Adam Bailey said. "I think we got too comfortable and too relaxed... I was pleased we started strong."
East will host a doubleheader with Paint Valley today.
