How Cold Is Too Cold?

Post by ColdHardTruth »

Saw a team outside scrimmaging today. My car said it was 36° and it was windy. I know composite bats usually cant even be used in this temperature.
What's your guys opinions? At what point so you pull the plug due to temperature? No rain involved in the decision.

Usually 40 degrees is the cut off, even that's much too cold for the composite bats, so we usually just work defense. 50+ we'll hit outside.

There are factors that we take into consideration. Sunny and 40 with little wind is tolerable but cloudy windy and 48 i feel is not.

If you wonder if it’s too cold then it probably is. Tough thing about Spring sports is wishing it was warmer that it is.

My daughter is playing in the North East in college. They played last week when it was 28 degrees with a breeze. It wasn't too bad when the sun was out. The first game went 12 innings, and the second game was overcast and the wind was awful. Wind chill in the single digits. I understand wanting to get games in, but geez.

Recommend a transfer to warmer weather. Spring sports early are tough.
