Paint Valley made the DIV Final Four in 2014, same year Westfall won state.

If memory serves me correct The SOC also had Symmes Valley Ladies as a State Runner-up vs Crestview. Crestview won 6-5 or 6-4 in 2005...I think.

Rock Hill Ladies were one game away from the Final four in 2011. They lost in the regional finals 6-1 to Baltimore Liberty Union.

That a heck of a run , back when 1 pitcher dominated the game at a deeper level than todays game . Distance was 40 feet as well.

Not a slight or a dig at what West accomplished , just that hot bats and many more athletes dedicated to the game now as opposed to back then . One arm was EVERYTHING back then , not so much now .

Ugh....hate and love this topic. It’s VERY close to my heart.

2013 Jackson Ironladies. Coach was Don Kunz and I was his assistant and 1st base coach. Rio Grande Coach Chris Hammond also on that coaching staff. We played a very tough schedule and were only 12-6 at the draw and 13-9 heading into the tourney. We face Chealsea McManaway 2x (Wellston), Kelsey Conkey 2x (Minford), Kendall Meeks 2x (Alexander), played Waverly 2x, Warren Local 2x (19-3), Ward 2x (Gailia Academy), Hailey Swayne (Piketon)....Chillicothe, Logan 2x each with their very crafty pitchers.....in total we lost 9x and the brutal schedule and tremendous pitching wore us down and even lost unexpectedly to Piketon in a crazy game that was bad in many ways.

Seeded #6 in a killer sectional that didn’t care about our strength of schedule. Had to go to 17-3 South Point for Sectional Finals. Beat them I think 7-1 in a game that was never in doubt. In district finals we square off against #2 seed Circleville and their 1st team all-state pitcher....but funny enough we had already seen McManaway and Conkey twice....she was good but we beat them 3-1 over a two day span (rain in 5th)....onto 20-3 Warren Local, they had already beaten us twice and a few hours later was our graduation. Our girls mashed the ball that day and had runners all over the bases in route to a 6-3 win.....2 hours after it end I got to watch my daughter give her valedictorian speech. That’s one special day for a parent.

To the regionals we face 22 win Philo....beat them 2-0. Then on to the favorite Licking Valley and their future Louisville and OSU ace Shelby McCombs. We fought and scraped and led 2-0 going to 6th. 1 out and 1 on and McCombs the cleanup batting. She hit a deep but high and lazy fly ball and it caught a little wind and fooled our LF. Would’ve been out #2 and next girl grounded out.....instead the snuck an infield seeing eye single to tie it. They scored a 3rd and go ahead run in the 7th....we got the batter to 2nd but couldn’t tie it up. Heartbreaker.

Licking Valley then won the state semis easily then won the state championship.

It still bothers me.

Then to see McCombs with 18 wins this year at OSU and she held Big 10 Champ Michigan to 1 run just a week ago....we got 2 off of her and my 4’11 daughter had a single, walk and an 11 pitch walk. Got on all 3x

Great memories.

Horse poop.

Great post Ironman, I've shared it before but my kid and several other special seniors got beat 1-0 by the Paint Valley team mentioned here . Lost 1-0 o a full count, 2 out , bases loaded walk in the regional final. I helped coach that team , in retrospect I think we screwed it up , we should have embraced the small ball game instead of trusting our hitters to get it done . Newland was on that day and dominated us .

Wheelersburg lost 1-0 in the State Final in 2004 or 2005. Woodsfield Monroe Central was the team. Burg couldn’t adjust to the slow style of pitching by the Woodsfield pitcher.

It was 2004 they made it to the state finals. I believe the shortstop from Monroe central made a great play deep in the hole that prevented a run from scoring.

Then the following year 2005 Zane Trace knocked Wheelersburg off in the districts I believe and made it to the state finals.
