Jimmy Joe Sheridan Has Passed Away
I got a call early this morning from my sister telling me that Jimmy Joe had passed away early this morning. Anyone that knew him very well loved the guy. He was one of the finest people I ever met and he was a die hard Ironton fan..thick and thin, Jimmy Joe was there till he just got too sick to come to the games and watch the Tigers under the pines. He loved the Ironton Tigers, he will be missed by every one who knew him!

Ironton has lost a fine gentleman that I grew up with and played ball with many an afternoon in good ol Irishtown. Like his dad Gene, JJ was respected and liked by anyone who crossed his path.
Prayers are with his wife and family from the Turkey household........RIP

Thoughts with his entire family. He fought a great fight. There was no bigger Ironton Fighting Tiger supporter. Missed by all who love the Tigers!

Man, that's too bad - some of the very best memories of my youth were enhanced by my dad, Charles Donahue and Jimmy Joe Sheridan rocking me the baseball knowledge on the Senior League Field.
He never let his sickness get him down.....when I would see him at the gym, he was always all smiles.
Heaven's a better place right now for sure.

Not a truer statement that heaven is richer now. My mom and his wife went to school together, bowled, etc. I can't ever remember them not being in our lives in some capacity. Love and prayers to Sharon, Jimmy, Ann, the grandkids and all his extended family. We will miss you JJ, but, I'm sure many open arms welcomed you to the Golden Streets!

What a great man and a great family. I will miss Jimmy Joe very much. Words cant describe how great that man was. He will be sorely missed in the Ironton community. I loved hearing him tell those old Ironton Tiger and Ironton St.Joe stories. I never heard the man say a bad word about anybody. I will miss him very very much. Too his dad Gene family friend Bob Deeds and Jimmy Joe ITS POST TIME IN HEAVEN!!!!

Re: Jimmy Joe Sheridan Has Passed Away
I have waited to reply to Jimmy Joe on here. But after the commentary in the Tribune, I wanted to say that I will truly miss him. He was a good friend. I love talking football with him. Jimmy Joe was always smiling and never knew a stranger. Never a dull moment. I worked at the Chemical plant in Haverhill with JJ for about 13 years. He was good as an operator. He never let the guys down and always made us laugh. I know there are many people who knew JJ better than I, and to them I can only say they were fortunate. Thanks for being my friend JJ. And thanks for the "scoop" on the Tigers all those years. I will miss you. My heart goes out to Jimmy Joe's family.
On a lighter note, I would like to tell a funny story about me and JJ. I was standing on the bridge at Barefoot landing in Myrtle Beach one year back in the 90's or something. I was waiting for a friend and just staring out into that big pond when I heard in that froggy voice of his: " What do ya' say Philly Willy?" He called me that. I didn't have to even turn around and I started laughing. He said: "you mean you drove 500 miles just to feed some fish? If you needed to do that, we could have went and sat on the Ironton Russell bridge." What a great guy! And by the way, what great friends he had. I am glad I was one of them.
Turke, let me know when you guys get something together on a scholarship thing. I would like to contribute.
