I agree. They did not have the best game Friday versus LE. But they are a group of pups, not a single senior on the O-line. 2 sophomores and 1 junior on the D-line. They'll need to play as hard as they can -and have the game of their lives this Friday - if the 'Dogs want to advance.toldya wrote:Once again a snappy reply but even 93 can not defend the play of the linemen for the dawgs. Going to be an interesting night. i suggest using alot of three step drops.

93 that sounds more like an excuse than a recommendation. BTW there are not many seniors included in the skilled players either. I do not see anyone making excuses for them. The line remains a MAJOR problem with no time to improve it i am hoping for good things but the line play worries me. i guess i need more kool aide.

Therein lies some of the best news for next year that seems to be lost on a lot of people. No seniors playing offense, and a lot of youth on defense as well.93Bulldog wrote:There are no seniors anywhere on offense.toldya wrote:there are not many seniors included in the skilled players either.
This might be the year that for Athens to advance in the play-offs that they may need to simply outscore someone to advance, which to most people isn't the sign of a complete football team just quite yet. Giving up 55 to Logan Elm just doesn't feel right for a Region #1 seed to do, and I am not being critical, I really would like Athens to advance as far as possible, but everyone would agree that giving up 55 points for a #1 seed (or any seed) is just too much.
But it just might mean that next year they start to resemble that complete team, one that is both skill and finesse plus a physically "tougher" offensive and especially defensive front unit. Something that can happen after an off-season of hard work for the guys in the trenches. Athens 2014 looks to be special, and this year for certain is pretty special even if it would happen to end this week or next week.
Pretty special accomplishment.

Toldya sounds like a straight up hater, don't know if he is from this area or not but if so shame on him. We all know that there are some things to work on but every comment that is made breathes hate. Win or lose there should be support and I see none what so ever, such a shame.

No hate here. Just a realistic guy. # 1 Athens has problems come Friday in the trenches. # 2 with all those talented people maybe more should play defense in key situatuations. I think Athens also has problems on special teams. Maybe some of those skilled guys could get down field faster.
It is easy to get on here and be a cheer leader. I have stated more than once i want the Dawgs to win. I also know where they were exposed last week and I know they have to address that weakness this week. I also know it is hard to address that in one week.
