Week 4: Vinton County-13 @ Harvest Prep-6
Week 4: Vinton County-13 @ Harvest Prep-6
Vinton County travels up 33 again for their 3rd straight road game. They will take on the Warriors of Harvest Prep who are coming off their first win of the season. VC dropped to 2-1 overall losing to Bloom Carroll (3-0) last night 35-22 in what was a closer game than many predicted. This is the first meeting between the Vikings and Warriors. Thoughts?

HP is actually 1-2.
c/p from what I said on the ND thread -
43-18 VC

Still holds true. Pannell and Walton are fast kids. Johnson is a good athlete. But I think if VC kept it as close as I'm hearing vs BC, I think VC should backsmash the Warriors.I wrote:Harvest Prep has an extremely fast quarterback in RJ Johnson, as well as a pretty athletic running back in Tyler Pannell. Their athleticism is counterbalanced by a lack of football experience and football knowledge. They're merely "athletes" that play those positions. Johnson doesn't have ideal quarterback mechanics, but possesses a lot of speed at the QB position.
They run Pannell sometimes with direct snaps. A bit of wildcat, they'll try to spread the field on offense.
Defensively, they're fast but traditionally they don't play with a bevy of discipline.
43-18 VC

You're right about the record FC. I knew it, I just typed it wrong. Lol

I like the Vikings chances of picking up win #3 this week, they are a much improved football team from those of the past few seasons.

Talked to some of the Vikes and they are very upset about the loss. Feel like they let an opportunity slip away. I have not seen this attitude in a long time. These kids don't expect to lose and have a hard time accepting it. Man that is refreshing. Imo they will bounce back Friday and play their buffs off. Vikes by 2 scores.

GO VIKES
VC looks like the better team in this one.
Time to see what they are made of after that first loss.
Vikes played a good team well, but turnovers "kill!"
I think this group will rebound in fine fashion!

I'm still not understanding why people are saying the BC game was close. BC was up 35-6 and called the dogs off. Vinton County then scored two touchdowns. VC's first half score was the result of the muffed opening kickoff. I'm not buying this game was close at all. Not trying to ruffle feathers, just calling it like it was.
HOWEVER, I think the Vinton County kids play really hard and should be really proud of the improvement they have made. Keep up the good work and good luck the rest of the season!

Vinton Co is going for their first 3-1 start since 2004. One statistic that really jumps out at me is this...this team has scored 99 points in its first 3 games. That's the most in VC's first 3 games of a season since 1993. That stretch (1994-2012) included 3 TVC Ohio championships and 1 playoff birth. This years team has also scored more points in 3 games than the 2011 and 2010 teams during their entire seasons. They also only need 17 points this week against Prep to surpass the total scoring from last years team.
Re: Week 4: (2-1) Vinton County @ (1-2) Harvest Prep
Strokn7.. ill give you the fact BC called the dogs off. But the Vikings did score on that first drive against BC starters and the second score as well. In-between those two scores, VC moved the ball pretty well and made a lot of mistakes. Granted they had a hard time stopping BC in that time span. But with all that said, VC has played 4 games now against Bloom and in the first 3, they didn't score a single point against starters or reserves. They could barely even move the ball across mid field. Lol and the first 3 times VC played Bloom, the Bulldogs we're not quite as strong as they are this season. So I think k the positives are there that everyone is talking about. This team can score, and can capitalize on mistakes against a great team like Bloom. Thats somethi g they could NOT do in the past. The Dogs are the second best team we play this year, so I think that bodes well for the rest of the season.

Dundas,
33 + 34 + 22 = 89
Which is still very good considering they only scored 124 all of last season.

if HP gets on the scoreboard quick they will be hard to stop.
Re: Week 4: (2-1) Vinton County @ (1-2) Harvest Prep
Drew Pasteur has VC as a 2 point favorite. He has had VC as the underdog each of the first 3 weeks getting 1 right and 2 wrong. Lets hope he gets back to .500 this week picking the Vikes!
So far this year my weekly VC predictions have been pretty good.
Week 1 I had VC 29-20 over Unioto. Actual score was 33-20
Week 2 I had VC over Piketon 45-20. Actual score was 34-20.
Week 3 I had Bloom Carroll over VC 35-19. Actual, 35-22.
So this week I'm looking to stay hot on the predictions!
I'm taking VC 36-24 over the Warriors. Lets see how wrong I am since I bragged on myself.

Glad to see V-C improved. It was great in the days when they were a force.
