they found a way to win and that's the characteristics you want the team to have heading into this time of year.

No he wasn't a bad coach, he did a lot of good at Ohio State. Something happened the last few years where he was no longer effective.
I think health issues (back) hampered his ability to coach.

OSU has already exceeded expectations for their season. Here on out they are playing with house money.

Never expected 8 Big Ten wins, much less 18 wins overall! Whatever Holtmann is doing, here's hoping he never stops. Interested to see if quality recruits follow, as I think that was Matta's downfall- chasing big time players he had no hopes of ever getting, and forgetting about the quality Ohio kids.

KBD questionable tonight with an illness. Let's hope he can play through it.

Tonight, the Buckeyes (18-5) dropped a Big Ten match up for the first time this season, getting "upset" by Penn State (14-8) in Columbus, 82-79. The Buckeyes trailed in this one by 3 with just seconds left, Keita Bates-Diop pulled up from long range and nailed a three ball. That's when Penn State took the ball, threw up a crazy and deep three pointer and nailed it for the buzzer beater win.

A tightly contested game throughout saw a huge win for the Nittany Lions and their improving program.

Leading the Buckeyes with another big game was Keita Bates-Diop with 25 points, followed by Jae'Sean Tate who added a 17 point, 10 rebound double-double. Leading PSU to victory was Tony Carr who scored a game high 28 points.

Ohio State will look to get back on track when they host Indiana on Tuesday.

Buckeyes looked hapless for 38 minutes. Little energy and stagnant offensively. KBD was in foul trouble, but wasn't assertive enough on the offensive end when he was in the game. This team just isn't good enough yet to play like that the majority of the game and expect to win. Granted, it was a buzzer beater, but it should've never been that close. Penn State played their best game of the year, and OSU played one of their worst.

Ohio State (19-5) cruised to a home conference victory tonight, defeating Indiana (12-11) by a final score of 71-56. The Buckeyes led at halftime by 15, and held that lead for a 15 point victory. Leading OSU in scoring was Jae'Sean Tate with 16 points, followed by Kaleb Wesson with 14 and Keita Bates-Diop with a 13 point-13 rebound double double in the victory.

Devonte Green led the way for the Hoosiers with a 20 point performance.

The next game up for the Buckeyes is when they host Illinois on Sunday afternoon.

In a close back and forth game, the Buckeyes were able to pull out a 75-67 victory over Illinois (12-12). Leading the game by four at halftime, Ohio State (20-5) was able to eventually increase that lead by four more to pull out the 8 point victory.

Keita Bates-Diop had a monster game for the Buckeyes, leading all scorers with 35 points and also posting 13 rebounds for a double double. Jae'Sean Tate chipped in 11 points, to go along with another double double by Kaleb Wesson (10 points; 10 rebounds). Leading the Fighting Illini was Mark Alstork who poured in 19 points for the game.

Next up for OSU is a big time showdown at Purdue on Wednesday.

Actually the Buckeyes were down late in the game and made a big run to pull it out.

True! This was really a game of runs. Whoever had the last one was going to win, which was the Buckeyes.

What a game for the Buckeyes! Purdue (23-3) led for the majority of this game, and actually led by 14 with just 10 minutes left in the game, but, to their credit, the Holtmann coaches Buckeyes (21-5), never gave up, earning a big time road victory over #3 Purdue, 64-63. It was a Keita Bates-Diop tip in off a Jae'Sean Tate miss with 2.8 seconds left that gave the Buckeyes the victory.

KBD led a very balanced scoring attack with 18 points (11 rebounds), while Jae'Sean Tate chipped in 10 points. Andre Wesson (13 points) and Musa Jallow (10 points) played perhaps the best game of their young careers off the bench for OSU.

Carsen Edwards led all scorers with 28 points for the Boilermakers, followed by Isaac Haas with 18.

Next up for the Buckeyes, as the season begins to wind down, they will host Iowa on Saturday (OSU won 92-81 earlier in the season).

Big for the Buckeyes to hold Haas to 2 points in the 2nd half, even if it did open up their shooters a bit more.

Great college basketball game! Awesome crowd, great defense and big plays by both squads. How about that pass from Matthias to Haas? That was unreal and I'm just glad the shot didn't fall.

Still not sure how OSU pulled it off, but what a game. Has to be a big confidence boost for A. Wesson and Jallow. Those two playing with confidence makes this team that much stronger, especially if Kam comes back with his head on straight. I see a lot of David Lighty in Jallow, I think the kid is going to be a good one.

Also, an MSU win over Purdue this weekend would be great. With OSU holding the tie breaker against both, it would give them a buffer for the #1 seed in the B1G tourney.

Did anybody ever hear what Williams did? They always got to be so secretive about this stuff, smdh. Other than that it was a great win!

Sparty takes care of Purdue. Buckeyes with a one game lead over both with the tiebreaker.
Buckeyes need a win today to keep that one game lead.
