It wasn't the best weekend of hockey for the Lady Buckeyes, but they did earn a split of non-conference opponent Mercyhurst on the road in Erie, Pa. In the first game, the Buckeyes were able to earn a 2-1 victory in a closely contested match. But, in the second game, a highly offensive output from the home team, saw the Buckeyes fall 6-4.

Ohio State will now be off for a few weeks before they host Penn State on January 5th and 6th.

Playing for the first time in nearly three weeks, the Lady Buckeyes got back into action in WCHA play by hosting rival Penn State and the 6th ranked Buckeyes struggled mightily by losing to the Nittany Lions 5-1.

Today, these two teams will wrap up their weekend series at 3.

Today, the Buckeyes got even with Penn State, as they defeated the Nittany Lions by a final score of 2-0, as their defense pitched a rare shutout in college hockey. They ended the 1st period tied at 0-0, then the Buckeyes scored in the second to take a 1-0 lead to go into the third. Then, OSU scored a nail in the coffin to take the lead at 2-0 for good.

After that win, OSU will host Robert Morris next weekend for a two game set on Friday and Saturday.

The Buckeyes officially qualified as an at-large for the NCAA Tournament. Only 8 teams make the bracket, so without winning their conference it was a close call for OSU. Their first round matchup will be against the 4th seed, Boston College on Saturday at 1pm at BC.
