93bulldog ... I look at the Gallia Academy matchup with Fairfield Union - GA has not made an appearance at the Convo since 2008 when they lost to Greenfield McClain - with McClain moving on to eventually play that epic final vs Vinton County losing to the Vikings 55-56 ... good stuff ... this go around for Gallia Academy will be without one of GA's biggest fans from back in the day - GAHSforver - Steve Ebert (passed away in 2012) ... GAHS would have been blasting me for having Gallia Academy at #8 ! finally moving up in this final week of the Elite 8 LOL ... one of the Gallia Academy faithful who would have been beaming with GA's season this year along with Odie and jottings ...

... Basketball 30 - good times ... good people ... GREAT BASKETBALL !!!

Woodside?
Loveday?
Swingle?
Vanhorn should absolutely be on this list

Solid competition, but did they win any of those besides Athens once?

Piketon has won 9 straight and had wins at Paint Valley (20+), at Peebles, SE twice (30+ at SE), West Union , Zane Trace and also Ports West looked legit the two games at Waverly sectional

Piketons losses are 2X unioto, Paint valley, At Zane Trace, and Eastern Pike. Those teams are still dancing except ZT and that loss was in OT

Piketon has the best player and I recall a 40 point performance in district title from him as a soph at Western. I think Perdue leads the Redstreaks to a win in this one.

We agree here at the meadow dome on the hill. Purdue bye far the best player that will be on the floor. Fb the young man and give an invite to come to the meadow dome and run a few under the lights as soon as spring gets here. Sometimes at night when the local police and sheriffs department are on the grounds the red and lue flashing lights make it seem like a real life CAVS game. I’m hoping he’ll swing bye but definitely gonna be the best player on the convo floor on that day. Would love to go but the ole ankle monitor just won’t allow it!!
Go Streaks!!

Noitall: Portsmouth was not a "bad" team, and I take offense to what you said. They went 16-8. I am not going to let you get away with that comment about my Trojans. Our kids lost in the sectional to a pretty darn good Lynchburg Clay team that has an outstanding player in Eric McLaughlin. I guess it's easy to trash the Trojans because they lost in the sectional, but I can tell you this for a fact, everybody in the SE district lines up behind Portsmouth in the record book, and in this decade, we still have the best tournament resume of anybody in the SE district. We just can't put out a championship team every year.......but we've put more of them out than anybody else.

Open up a district tournament program and see for yourself!! We have more sectional, district, regional, and state championships than anybody else in the SE district!!

I saw trojandave at the Ports/LC game and I have to admit this guy might be the most passionate fan in the SE district! This guy was fired up!!!

I read Piketon has won 11 of the last 15 sectional titles with a couple district titles and one regional title. I would think that is somewhat comparable to Portsmouth of late. Although, I realize Portsmouth has a much deeper basketball history.

Trojandave what's Portsmouth record in last 15 years? Piketon would be 25-14 if my memory serves me right. I am getting old though!

NO ONE should doubt the loyalty of trojandave. He is without a doubt the most loyal fan I have ever met to a program (PHS basketball) at least that I know of south of Columbus. And he is 100% correct when it comes to HS basketball in the SE district. There's Portsmouth, then there is everyone else.

Pickoff42: Thanks for the support. Lord willing, I will be there next season to watch what looks to be a total rebuilding year for PHS.

Ankle Braces: Here is Portsmouth's record this decade:

2010: 12-7......sectional runnerup, lost to Lucasville Valley 63-62
2011: 21-5......state semifinal,lost to Cleveland Central Catholic 58-47
2012: 24-3......state runnerup, lost to Cincinnati Summit Country Day 53-37
2013: 10-13....sectional runnerup, lost to Wheelersburg 45-42
2014: 19-5.....district runnerup, lost to Lucasville Valley 58-55
2015: 20-7.....regional runnerup, lost to Columbus Eastmoor Academy 49-45
2016: 16-8.....sectional runnerup, lost to Eastern Brown 72-58
2017: 17-8.....district semifinal, lost to South Point 59-42
2018: 16-8.....sectional runnerup, lost to Lynchburg Clay 47-42

Total Record This Decade: 155-64

All told, Portsmouth this decade has a state runnerup, a state semifinal, 3 regional final appearances, and 5 sectional titles. Piketon may have more sectional titles this decade, but has 0 appearances in the regional final, and 0 appearances in the state tournament. The Redstreaks made the Final 4 in 2009, not this decade.

Looking forward to Saturday to watch the D3 district semifinals. Might just sneak up there Thursday to watch the first round of the D2 district.
