Who’s your schools biggest rival?

Post by ArmChairQB »

In football Nelsonville-York has 2 main rivals. It varies year to year if Trimble or Athens are number 1..

Trimble is always number 1.
Athens is only a big game because it usually comes down to us and them for a league title.
Lose to Attend and life goes on. Lose to Trimble and you have to carry it around like a big stink for a year.

Hopefully the Logan Rivalry gets fired up again. After last year I'd say it's on its way back.

for Waverly it's always been Piketon, and with Burg being in the SOC I would say they are our other, I know waverly hasn't beaten Burg in football since 06, in most other sports they are compete against them

Portsmouth West would have to be Portsmouth and Burg. Burg being number one though. Back in the day it was very competitive with either west or Burg always taking home the gold ball. Died down some in recent years with burgs recent dominance but hopefully we can get back to it . Last years build up was awesome

For Burg, I would say it’s Ironton. West would be the 2nd!

Wellston is Vinton County’s biggest rival in every sport. It used to be a little more heated back in the day but the basketball rivalry has faded some. The football rivalry is still strong with wellston holding a 10-8 advantage since the year 2000.

For me Gallia Academy’s biggest rival has to be Jackson, even though we aren’t in the same league anymore

Agree to disagree. When NY wins 9 or 10 in a row, the game loses its luster.
32-14 and 2 VS. Trimble
Ny 7 wins in the last 10 years.
22-16 VS. Athens

I'm going from memory here for OHHS in the 70's. In no particular order (not counting Jackson)...

Rock Hill
Chesapeake
Fairland

Again, it's been a long time ago.

There were a few years back in the late '90s/early '00s when Burg and Portsmouth had a good rivalry. It was always the last game of the regular season and it was treated like a big deal at the time. Obviously that game isn't even a thing anymore, but back then I remember there was a lot of animosity between the two schools.

Unioto’s biggest rival is Zane Trace. I guess Chillicothe is a big one too, but they play so infrequently that I wouldn’t even really say it is a rivalry at this point.

Burg fans talking about the good ole days? Better watch out, your starting to sound like Ironton fans. :D

😂🤣 When we say good ole days, we are referring to the early 2000’s when Ptown and Burg played some knock down drag outs.

Valley's big rival has traditionally been Minford I would say. They have had some good games with Burg the last few years, but not enough to call it a rivalry.
