This is St. Joe's first year in the league correct?

I don't think Ironton St. Joseph comes in until 2019-2020.

mattash: I believe St. Joe not starting in SOC I until next year. Beaver Eastern will be moving up to SOC II at that time as well.

As for my prediction, I'll say:

1. Eastern
2. Green
3. New Boston
4. Western
5. Symmes Valley
6. East
7. Clay
8. Notre Dame

Top 3 teams are all good enough to make Regionals (Eastern in D3, Green and New Boston in D4).*

Beaver Eastern, then everybody else. If everyone stays healthly, I can even see them being a player in the Div-3 tournament.

This is my predictions as well ... NB will be very good but I’ll give green the edge with the depth they have.. Coach Hollar will have a very hard time at first finding the fifth man role and hopefully the other kids except the fact that they will be coming off the bench... Green Schedule is very rough outta conference to start the season..

Rumor around town is 6'8" Senior Austin Deitrich will help the Eagles in the paint this winter. Huge mismatch when he and 6'6 Michael Miller are both on the floor for every SOC 1 team. If we can stay healthy a league championship and tourney run are in the foreseeable future. I agree as stated above, Green and New Boston will be nice teams and make some noise in D4 come tourney time.

District championship or bust if you’re the Eagles this year!

What school did Austin Deitrich come from?

I saw the young man with Michael today. He is one huge body. Should be a big presence in the paint.

Austin has always been an Eastern student. He played freshman/JV when he was a freshman and didn't play the last 2 years. He has grown about 5-7 inches since he was a freshman.

I think this will be a very competitive year in the SOC1 with only Eastern having a big edge in talent.

1. Eastern-too much talent for the rest of the small schools..period. The title is theirs to lose. Barrick will push this outstanding group that has one of the best pg (Leist) and Centers (Miller) in the area regardless of school size.

2. Western-Brewster should have a monster year. Humfreys (spelling) can be a hand full. If the Jordan kid steps up, they could be very, very good. Coach Fitch is one of the very best in southern Ohio.

3. New Boston-Will still be very good with some young talent. However, loosing their playmaker and scorer from a year ago (point guard???) will cause them to drop to 3rd or 4th.

4. Green-Very good offensive team that finished the year on a good tourney run. Kimbler can flat out shoot it. If depth and defense issues are overcome they could be as high as #2.

5. East-2 outstanding guards and a crazy home court advantage will allow them to upset some teams.

6. Symmes Valley-Always seem to have athletes and I heard their JV team was maybe undefeated last year???

7. Clay-The old Notre Dame coach will be implementing his new system there. They will play hard.

8. Notre Dame -Coach Mader takes over again and therefore will compete every night and win some games.

I think 5-8 teams could shuffle some as well as 2-4, but Eastern should be a lock. Good luck to all teams.

I do agree 5-8 can be a toss up

Eastern- Depth may hurt them come tournament time but shouldn't hurt that much during the regular season. They will always defend.

NB- Losing Conley for NB hurts, he did a lot for them and handled the ball well . Sexton and Caldwell will be monsters, outside of them you have some inexperienced youth. Not having Meade as well will hurt. Jackson will be a good addition but for a Freshman it will take some time getting used to the speed and physicality of varsity sports.

Green- If Green can get it done defensively, I can see them being # 2, maybe upsetting Eastern or maybe getting upset by a team. I think they turned the corner last year and maybe they can carry on from their football momentum.

Western- Depth may be an issue for them but they will be good.

East- They will play 2-3 zone to try to limit fouls on Shope and Flannery. They will not be brought off the floor.

SV- Athletic and long, yes they may of gone undefeated in JV, but not many SOC I JV teams are very good. They will play hard.

Clay- New Coach, New System. Saw them the other night in BURG. They play hard, shoot the ball well, and have depth as well. Looks like they want to play up tempo a little bit.

ND- New/ Old Coach. Losing Shipp hurts, but you always have Mader and Clark. No depth will hurt the Titans but they will come in and compete.
