Man that's impressive. Toler didn't start kicking until last year when GA allowed kids to participate in more than 1 sport a season. Wish he would've started younger.yabbadabbadoo wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 12:37 amBlizzardMan wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 12:34 amDon't know these guys bests, but Toler at Gallia Academy, who is a soccer player, made one from 46 two weeks ago.yabbadabbadoo wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 12:25 am
I’m not sure what grade he is in but Sammons is just a Sophomore. Strongest leg I’ve ever watched kick at the Burg. He doesn’t even use the tee to kick FG’s or XP’s.
The Sammons kid hit one from 45 last week to tie the game up against Ashland and got drilled right after he kicked it.
He hit one from 41 tonight against Greenup Co.

Honestly, Toler has the leg for over 50, but his accuracy would be what would keep him from hitting if anything just being a bit inexperienced in kicking a pigskin. He's got a big leg!14U wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 12:42 amYes they are young but size doesn’t matter if you have the leg. They both kick high not low tooBlizzardMan wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 12:39 amWell he is a senior, and he's a good size young man. Sounds like the other two have more growing to do.
Re: Week 4 (3-0) Ironton @ (3-1) Ashland Ky
Well I hope he just goes and kicks, kicks and kicks until he gets it down. If his size is like you say and his leg is too, he’s to good not to practice and have a chanceBlizzardMan wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 12:46 amHonestly, Toler has the leg for over 50, but his accuracy would be what would keep him from hitting if anything just being a bit inexperienced in kicking a pigskin. It’s a sweet stadium. Can’t wait to visit there next year when Wheelersburg and Ashland battle it out again.

Here's an Aeriel view of Putnam stadium... Ashland revamped it a couple years ago. It's now a complete Horseshoe. Not a bad seat in the house.bleed_blue wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 1:21 amIt’s a sweet stadium. Can’t wait to visit there next year when Wheelersburg and Ashland battle it out again.

I love the horseshoe look and the close proximity to the field. You don’t see stadiums like this anymore.Valenth wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 2:19 amHere's an Aeriel view of Putnam stadium... istening to the ironton/ashland game last night was gut wrenching. we killed ourselves with too many turnovers. and it seemed they were always very deep into tomcat territory. i'm seeing a bunch of comments about officiating. i wasn't there. but it sounds like we missed a bunch of tackles. had too many turnovers. and the officiating, again, i wasn't there. it did seem like almost everytime we had a big run, there was a holding call. keep your chin up ''fighting tigers'' and get back on track.

I hope you didn't get that from what I posted bobby. I told you I wasn't there. it sounded like Ashland was the more physical team last night. ironton's yardage in the 1st half was abyssmal. the tackling sounded atrocious. and the turnovers were killer. you cannot do that against a fine team like Ashland. according to the radio the series total was ironton 45- Ashland 35 in the overall series. so it moved to ihs 45 - Ashland 36. that's what I call a wonderful rivalry game. and I was dead off. I had a feeling the tigers were gonna load up last night. sounded like a wonderful defensive struggle. and if you have never watched a game at Ashland, treat yourself to that sometime. the stadium is elevated above the field. you are right on top of things. it's an awesome place to watch a high school game. nothing but congratulations here to the Ashland tomcats. very close game. I'm impressed we have a kicker who barely missed a 48 yarder in that environment. he will win us some close games. I feel for him, as he must think he lost the game for us. but that is never, ever the case. keep your chin up young man. a team loses a game, not an individual. you'll get more chances. 4 turnovers deep in tomcat territory was just too much to overcome in a physical dogfight like that, er catfight I should say. on to league play and the business at hand. go tigers.

Ashland's Coach Tony Love claims that Ironton players stomped on the "A" painted in the middle of the field prior to the start of the game. If true, that is pretty classless and low. Not to mention that it looks especially ignorant when you do not back it up and ultimately lose the game, as Ironton did.

Didn't see that. Was a great game by both teams though. Ironton a little more physical with Ashland a little more speed. The interceptions I dont think were bad passes just great D with a really speedy secondary

Clean up some penalties , loose balls & turnovers they'll be fine. As far as tackling goes, well seems ALL these kids on ALL high school teams are just imitating the pro & college game now with all the rule changes that protect the offensive players - (Grab the arm, go for the strip, jump on the shoulder pads, run along side them while grabbing and let's carry you another 5 yards !!!!!) If not, it's a penalty for unnecessary roughness or illegal hit half the time if it looks violent. Ironton still #1 in region.

Re: Week 4 (3-0) Ironton @ (3-1) Ashland Ky
One of the better high school games that I have watched , hard playing by both teams, officiating didn't determine the outcome the calls were legit, close game from the kickoff but from my view the last 8 minutes of the 4th you could see Ironton being worn down and that contributed more to the outcome than any call. Both teams left it all on the field last night Ashland had just a little more to give Great game to watch for sure

Re: Week 4 (3-0) Ironton @ (3-1) Ashland Ky
Can’t turn the ball over as many times as Ironton did and beat good teams , not the end of the world but getting beat by a team your 2 scores better than better be a wake up call , Ironton’s offense is not good very vanilla easy to defend gotta get out of the wishbone and run some kind of spread get teams out of the box
