Re: Gallipolis board hires coaches for 2008-09
seems like alot of positions are open a school this type seems odd.

Re: Gallipolis board hires coaches for 2008-09
Renee Barnes, I wish she would have come back alot earlier!!!!!!!!!
Re: Gallipolis board hires coaches for 2008-09
I notice that there are only 2 varsity assistants, no freshman assistant and no 7th grade coaches listed. Are they going to fill these positions at a future BOE meeting? Where is long-time offensive coordinator Jim Niday?

Re: Gallipolis board hires coaches for 2008-09
Jimmie was hired at the last board meeting........ The board cut an assistant varsity football coach to save $$$$$...... Other coaches will also be cut........ Football only program at GAHS that makes $$$$...... Need to make cuts in BB program..... Hard times are around the corner for GAHS, this is just the tip of iceburg........ How are we going to repay the state the $222,752 we owe????
Re: Gallipolis board hires coaches for 2008-09
WOW....$222,252 DOLLARS?
Whose fault was it making the mis-count on the number of students attending Gallia Academy to the State and the OHSAA? How does one make a mis-count that bad to end up having the school district pay back that much money to the State? Tax payers money from the Gallia Academy School District. Was it an innocent mistake or shady one? If it was shady that person or persons should no longer be there. Maybe the school board should consider in making a pay cut in the persons salary who made the era and send it back to the State in payments.
Good Luck
Sorry to hear about that down at the Old French City

Talk about jumping to conclusions. Whew.
Actually, the state made a mistake for a ton of schools and a lot owe money while a few are going to get a nice bonus. It wasn't the fault of anyone in the Gallipolis School District.
But it's like with the IRS. If THEY make a mistake, you still have to pay. The state is the same way. Their bad, you pay.
Re: Gallipolis board hires coaches for 2008-09
That's good if that is the case at Gallia Academy in one respect, but not good they will still have to owe.
Hmmm, I think that is why we have U.S. and State Reps and U.S. and State Senators for situations like that, don't you? You pay if it's the States fault, hmmmm. There has to be more to it than that. Likewise, there are those figures we call Attorneys too
Just for those situations like that mentioned.
It's called due-process and fairness.
Gee, I did not know you are from Gallipolis and have all the evidence and knowledge concerning the situation at GAHS? I thought you were from Logan? Hmmmm. I wonder if you know all about Chillicothe's school too? Do you know if we are one of those schools that is getting a bonus?

Amy, haven't you learned by now that certain people from Logan know everything.....LOL
This news about GAHS owing money was first reported in the Huntington Dispatch a few weeks ago....... Kind of curious why nothing has ever appeared in the Gallipolis paper....... I am not placing blame on anyone but trying to make the point that the whole school system will suffer, if this is true..... If this were not true the people in charge at GAHS should come out and present there side of the story..... And if this is true maybe they should just be quiet and hope the problem goes away.....

superblue,
I wish Gallia Academy and the school in Gallipolis the best. I hope the situation works out in Gallia Academy's favor. That's a bunch of money to give back

Look at the pot calling the kettle black. You jump to conclusion after conclusion about something you know nothing about and then have the nerve to tell Locos he is from Logan and not Gallipolis. Perhaps it escapes you that you are not from Gallipolis either; something we can be thankful for.
All those negative waves, as usual

Hmmm...but I wasn't the one describing what happened or why GAHS should still pay.

What was it a GAHS Poster stated?

Good luck Gallia Academy on resolving the issue. I hope the best for your school not having to pay if it is the States Fault

Here is a link from the Columbus Dispatch in late June. Lancaster owes over 1/2 a million dollars.
Basically, the state "over-awarded" money to schools, and now is asking for that money back.
I may not live in Gallipolis, but unlike you, I don't jump into threads posting half truths and making things up. I always have reason and facts to back me up.
By the way, Chillicothe owes $147,584 and Logan owes $6,002. I have the whole spreadsheet if you have anymore questions.
188 School districts owe money, 116 will get a bonus, and 309 SDs will not see a change.

The difference is, Chillicothe City Schools will miss it, but will not have a difficult time giving it back as some other schools in the Region will

We haven't been spending money on New Football Fields or Gyms as of late, other than the Jr, High Gym. We have not been spending on all new buildings like several others have lately, either.

We have added an addition to our H.S. for the Middle School, so we won't be in the same boat as others. No cuts here that we hear.
All our coaches are still with us as it stands yesterday

Good Luck, hopefully it will work out for you all

Once again you show your ignorance. Once you are proven wrong and made to look silly, why don't you just move on?
Do you know that the STATE OF OHIO is paying LARGE percentages of most of the building projects in this area? I don't know what percentage they are paying for Gallipolis's new schools, but I know that the state is paying for SEVENTY FIVE PERCENT of Logan's new buildings!
We are paying for the football field and athletic complexes on a separate bond issue without help from the state, but that became a necessity due to the demolition of Bill Sauer Field to make room for the new Central Elementary.
I'm sure the issues in Gallia County have more to do with the shrinking tax base and the current economic hard times than it does with new buildings.
Also, building building has nothing to do with salaries and having to make those cuts. There are two types of tax issues that are used by school districts. First, are bond issues which are used for BUILDING only. The second is an operating levy, which is used to pay for up keep and salaries, essentially the day-to-day operation of the school district.
And correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Chillicothe just complete a pretty significant renovation of their gym a couple years ago? I'm sure the school district is still paying that off.
