Re: Trimble to the TVC Ohio in 2014?
Well Governor Kasich has formed his committee to study the consolidation of school districts in Ohio.....maybe in a few years, Warren Jackson and Gallia will not be bigger than some of our current TVC schools if he has his way with consolidations.

According to the jest of what I got out of that short article, all of the "Hocking Division" would have to consolidate except for Wahama and that's just because it's in another state and Kasich can't get his paws on them.NYBuckeye96 wrote:Well Governor Kasich has formed his committee to study the consolidation of school districts in Ohio.....maybe in a few years, Warren Jackson and Gallia will not be bigger than some of our current TVC schools if he has his way with consolidations.

Re: Trimble to the TVC Ohio in 2014?
The Catholics and/or private Christian schools will be in better shape than anyone, as if they haven't already been that way for years. They probably look at public schools and the OHSAA and laugh everytime they see these things. I've got a lot of friends that their kids went to or are now attending DeSales, Hartley and Newark Catholic and they could all care less about what the public does because the way they figure it, since they're paying tuition for a private school and supporting public schools with their property and sales taxes wherever they live, they are sacrificing double what most of us do and they shouldn't be punished and held to the same standards. Academically that is probably true but when you're in the sports arena, to me it shouldn't be as much of a difference as it is. Maybe that's why the OHSAA doesn't want another system for privates than what is already there.NY BUCKS wrote:if it does happen whats the cutoff point what division is safe

Re: Trimble to the TVC Ohio in 2014?
I have no idea why Trimble wants to switch over to the Ohio Division IMO they have no shot in Football to win the Conference Title

Re: Trimble to the TVC Ohio in 2014?
If N-Y and Trimble were to consolidate it would make them a D3 school using the current numbers. I'm not to sure N-Y fans would be happy being a D3 school and in football anyway only picking up a few kids that would even see the field. I think consolidation has pros and cons for many districrs across the area, the level of academics would likely get better and the level of competition in most sports would be better but the number of kids able to participate in those sports would go down.

Re: Trimble to the TVC Ohio in 2014?
Well when they do consolidate then they'll be in the Ohio in all sports forever. Let Gallipolis, Warren and Jackson into the league and then you could have two 8 team divisions for the next 40 or 50 years until the next wave of consolidations. They could change the conference divisions to SEOAL I and SEOAL II at that point since the SEOAL is the oldest league in SEO by far. Anything is better than the Legends and Leaders the Big Ten braintrusts thought up.
Re: Trimble to the TVC Ohio in 2014?
V.C. to Warren is not that bad of a ride. I think Warren would be a great addition to the TVC along with G.A. and Jackson and make it into 3 divisions. N.Y. would be in the middle division that way they could still win their league title most every year,Dundas wrote:Why would VC leave the TVC if Jackson were voted in? They already play them in every sport, every year. Warren is the team VC doesn't want in.. Jackson is 20 minutes away while Warren is an hour and 20 minutes.
Re: Trimble to the TVC Ohio in 2014?
Kids from Trimble would go to possible 3 differents schools, Athens, NY, Morgan, Fed Hock and Miller. I guess it also depends on what schools from that list stay open. But, lets say its just NY and Trimble, I'm not sure if NY would get everyone. Maybe move to a big D4, not sure about D3. Who knows.
Re: Trimble to the TVC Ohio in 2014?
Consolidated school districts can operate more than one high school as is the case with the Gallia County Local school district which operates both River Valley and South Gallia high schools. The only reason it operates 2 is due to the large geography and the fact that Gallipolis City schools sit right square in the middle. When preparing to build new schools, Gallia Local had inquired about getting on the funding list for new school construction but the state said there would be some strings attached to the funding. The state told the district that it would be forced to consolidate RV and SG back into one school and close all the elementary schools in the old Kyger Creek portion of the district. Because of the large tax base provided by the two power plants the board decided not to take state money and therefore was allowed to keep both high schools and an elementary school in Addaville. The moral of the story is that when you consolidate in name only (example Fort Frye and Waterford into one), you will be able to operate 2 high schools unless you go to the state for money to build new schools. Take their money and you play by their rules. Take a look at what happen to Portsmouth East (now Sciotoville).

I don't believe they could go to Morgan or Miller due to crossing county lines. Crossing county lines brings tax issues into the mix and rarely if ever happens.NYF wrote:Kids from Trimble would go to possible 3 differents schools, Athens, NY, Morgan, Fed Hock and Miller. Re: Trimble to the TVC Ohio in 2014?
From what I am hearing Trimble will not be in the TVC Ohio in 2014, but Trimble will definately be able to play an upgraded schedule in 2014 after the "Hocking split". Late season games with River Valley, Belpre, Federal Hocking and Wahama combined with 6 non-league games. Play NY in Week 1 - maybe get Alex back on the schedule for historical rivalry purposes, and that still leaves 4 non-league games that can be whoever you want. Not too shabby.

Part of Jackson county is in Gallia local school district and Crown City is located in fairland school. County lines mean nothing.
