After a season that included a trip to the final four, and an end of season #4 ranking for the Buckeyes, they have reloaded and returning players have worked hard, and they have received a #7 preseason ranking.

Ohio State will begin the season this weekend by traveling to Connecticut to play Quinnipiac on both Friday and Saturday.

It was a pretty good night for the Buckeyes, as they opened their season on the road at Quinnipiac in Connecticut tonight, winning 3-2. Just under three minutes into second period, Emma Maltais scored the opening goal of the season for either team, giving OSU a 1-0 advantage. Skipping ahead to the first minute of the third period, the Bobcats were able to tie the game up at 1-1. Then, at the half way point of the third period, OSU's Liz Schepers was able to give the Buckeyes the lead for good.

With less than five minutes left to play, the Buckeyes added an insurance goal off the stick of Madison Field, going up 3-1. The Bobcats were able to score a late goal after pulling their goalie, but it ended up too little too late, as the Buckeyes won 3-2.

They will play their second and final game tomorrow afternoon with a 2pm face-off time, before returning home.

For the second straight game, the Buckeyes earned a 3-2 victory at Quinnipiac, earning a series sweep to open the season. Early on in the second period, Liv Soares hit the back of the net for the Buckeyes, giving them a 1-0 lead. The shot was hit so hard, and bounced out of the net so quickly, that the officials had to take a second look on replay to be sure it even went in. Near the midway point of the second period, Quinnipiac was able to tie the game up. That lead did not last long though, as Tatum Skaggs picked up a pass and placed it in the back of the net to give the Buckeyes the lead again at 2-1 late in the second.

Early on in the third period, the Bobcats were able to score a second goal to tie the game up again. Then, Skaggs struck again for OSU in the final minutes of the third, clinching a victory.

Next weekend, the Buckeyes will be back in action as they host Colgate on Friday and Saturday.

The Buckeyes home opener went their way on Friday night, defeating #8 Colgate 4-3. OSU fell behind early, as they went down 1-0 12 minutes into the game. But, Colgate's lead didn't last long as Tatum Skaggs scored her third goal of the season to even the score just under 90 seconds later. Just before the first period buzzer, Colgate won some momentum as they were able to pick up a 2-1 lead.

Two minutes into the second period, Rebecca Freiburger was able to even things up for the Buckeyes with a goal of her own. At the seven minute mark, Ohio State took their first lead off a goal from Charly Dahlquist (her first of the year). Just 43 seconds later, Colgate answered the Buckeyes score with one of their own, to tie the game up again. The Buckeyes gave it one last effort in the second period, as Lauren Boyle scorched one into the back of the net with just under six remaining in the period, to give the Buckeyes the lead for good. The entire 3rd would go scoreless, as the Buckeyes held off Colgate throwing the kitchen sink at them.

OSU and Colgate will wrap up their series tomorrow with a 3pm face-off.

For the first time this season, the Buckeyes lost on Saturday, to #8 Colgate 5-2 in their series finale. OSU was the first to score taking a 1-0 lead on a Liz Schepers goal at the 7:33 mark of the first period. Tatum Skaggs was up next, giving the Buckeyes a 2-0 lead heading into the second period. Then it was all Colgate, as they scored the next 5 unanswered goals to claim victory.

Next up, Ohio State will stay in Columbus next weekend as they'll play a two game set against Minnesota State on Friday and Saturday.

Kicking off conference play for the season, the Buckeyes hosted WCHA rival Minneosta State, and rolled them 4-0. The first period of the game went completely scoreless, although OSU did rattle off 19 shots-on-goal. That stalemate was broken as Charly Dahlquist scored her second goal of the year near the midway point of the second period. Just over five minutes later, Emma Maltais doubled the Buckeyes lead with a goal of her own (her second of the year).

Lisa Bruno scored her first career goal, 6:47 into the third period, giving the Buckeyes a 3-0 lead. Putting a cherry on top for the game, the final goal came from Sam Bouley (her first of the year) with less than 10 minutes of play left.

The Buckeyes and Mavericks will play again on Saturday at 1pm.

Ohio State finished their first weekend of conference play on a high note, as they defeated Minnesota State in overtime, 2-1. The Buckeyes got the scoring started, OSU's Liz Schepers gave them their first lead in the 18th minute of the 1st period. Nearly a whole other period elapsed before another team would score, but it ended up being the Mavericks tying the game up in the 12th minute of the 2nd period. The remainder of regulation went scoreless for both teams. Then comes OT, as Ohio State's Madison Fields sent Buckeye fans home happy just 53 seconds into the period, for the game-winning goal.

The Buckeyes will get back into action next weekend as they travel to play Minnesota on games on Friday and Saturday.

It was kind of the weekend that you would expect from two of the top four teams in the nation this weekend, as #4 Ohio State split their two game series with #3 Minnesota in Minneapolis. The Gophers cruised to a 3-0 victory on Friday night. But, on Saturday, the Buckeyes were able to squeeze out a victory, 3-2.

Coming up next, the Buckeyes will travel to Canton, NY to face-off with St. Lawrence on Friday and Saturday.

The 4th ranked Buckeyes didn't get the start to the weekend they wanted, but nearly mounted a full comeback at #10 St. Lawrence on Friday. OSU fell behind early in the first period in this one, after one period of play, they trailed 2-0. Nearly at the 9 minute mark of the second, the Buckeyes finally got on the board. No scoring happened the rest of the second, but just 30 seconds into the third period, Tatum Skaggs tied the game up for OSU. With just under 10 minutes remaining in regulation, St. Lawrence scored one more time to give them the lead, and eventually the win, as the Buckeyes could not mount another scoring drive.

They will wrap up the series in Canton, NY on Saturday at 3pm.

The ladies wrapped up their weekend in Canton, NY on a high note, by defeating #10 St. Lawrence 6-1, to earn a weekend split. The Buckeyes nearly had this one wrapped up after the first period of play, as they lead 3-1. After the second period of play OSU led in this one 5-1. Then they got one more final goal to wrap things up in the third period.

They will return home for their two game series next weekend against St. Cloud State.

OSU earned a weekend sweep over St Cloud State on Saturday, as they finished with a 3-2 win. Tatum Skaggs earned her 7th goal of the season at the 16:44 mark of the first period. Early in the second, their opponent was able to tie the game up. The tie didn't last long, as minutes later, Madison Field gave the Buckeyes the lead again. Charly Dahlquist extended the lead with a goal of her own. The Huskies earned a final goal late in the third, but it was too little too late.

Next weekend, Ohio State will travel to to Minnesota to face-off against Bemidji State in a two-game series.

Next up, they'll host Minnesota Duluth for a two game series this coming Friday and Saturday.

Voting wise, OSU and Minnesota-Duluth entered this weekend tied for 7th in the nation in the national poll, so, it was only fitting that they face-off against each other this weekend in a two game series. The Buckeyes showed that they were the better team on Friday night, as they used a smothering defensive effort to earn a 3-1 win.

At the 6:22 mark of the first period, Duluth got on the board first, but it turned out to be their only score of the game. OSU then proceeded to score the next three goals to take the victory.

These two teams will play again tomorrow to wrap up their series at 1pm.

The Buckeyes completed a weekend sweep over #7 Minnesota Duluth, by defeating them on Saturday 4-1. Tatum Skaggs notched a hat trick for OSU, on a weekend where they dominated the Bulldogs. Duluth scored the first goal of the game, just like on Friday, but then proceeded to score the next and last 4 goals of the game.

They will have nearly two weeks off before they travel to Minnesota State on December 1st and 2nd.

In their second game of the series, the Buckeyes were able to get revenge on Minnesota State and notch one in the win column, 2-0. The games only two goals both came from OSU in the first period, as Tatum Skaggs and Samantha Bouley each notched one just 7 minutes apart.

Ohio State will have two weeks off before they host Mercyhurst in a two-game set on December 15 and 16.
