Re: Rob Smith from Creighton named new Ohio Head Coach
Well said baseball16. High school baseball coaches I know did not have a warm, fuzzy feeling about the Bobcats under the prior regime and have not for quite a while, particularly in light of the American Legion fiasco. Those relationships, particularly with the OHSBCA, need to be reestablished. It w...

Re: Rob Smith from Creighton named new Ohio Head Coach
Kent State, although they do not have any southeastern Ohio players this year, have had several the past few years from Jackson (Humphreys), Washington Court House (Shaw), some Wheelersburg and Zane Trace players. Additionally, their coach is from Athens. Perhaps had OU recruited a few of these guys...

Re: Marietta College Baseball
Buldog-having seen both OU and Marietta play on a regular basis, I have no doubt that Marietta would beat them day in and day out. It is a shame if OU never tried to recruit Brockmeier or Hopper as both could easily have played and excelled there. I have no doubt about that. Hence lies the problem w...

Re: Ohio Baseball
Fred, good post. Marietta College actually has two local players, Evan Brockmeier from Marietta and Aaron Hopper from Wheelersburg. I notice that OU played Otterbein this year from the OAC and if memory serves me correct, played Wilmington around six years ago. How come they never play Marietta?

Re: Marietta College Baseball
Marietta College is an outstanding program with exceptional student-athletes and coaches. This program certainly does not get the recognition by the media, both local and nationally, that it deserves. Good luck in pursuing back to back National titles!

Re: Tressel takes job at Akron
Great post Eagles 73. I agree that the Tressel hiring will bring Akron U. money-lots of it! I also agree that colleges have escaped the animosity of the public when our government leaders in Columbus have put up public schools, counties, townships, firemen, policemen, teachers as pedestals of waste ...

Re: Tressel takes job at Akron
In the days when Kasich was trying to push SB 5 down the throats of Ohioans to balance his budget while giving his staffers significant pay raises over that of the previous administration; Kasich and Auditor Yost stating that Ohio has too many counties, townships and schools and need to consolidate ...

Re: Week 3: OSU @ Miami 9/17/11
I really don't know why anyone is surprised that the Toledo Rockets play most of the BCS teams they play close or even beat them. They are a fine football program. What puzzles me is why the BCS teams all want to play the "Little Sisters of the Poor" but none of them will allow them to cra...

Re: Ohio State vacates wins from 2010 football season
Should a team be allowed to dictate or suggest its own penalties in a situation such as this? I am very interested to see what sort of severance package Coach Tressel received to "take one for the team" considering Ohio State arguably has just cause to pay him nothing. Something just seems...

Re: Marietta College Baseball now ranked #1 in NCAA D3
Marietta, in my opinion, would beat any college baseball program in Ohio in a seven game series, regardless of division.

Re: Marietta College Baseball now ranked #1 in NCAA D3
Congrats to Marietta on winning the national championship and to Aaron Hopper of Wheelersburg for making all-tourney. If you really want to watch very, very good college baseball, make arrangements to watch Marietta play next year. They play the game the way it was meant to be played.

Good luck to Marietta in the DIII National Championship game. They are in great position to win it with their opponent having to beat them twice.

I agree pressboxchamp. They, as I said earlier, are one of the very best teams in the country regardless of division, and that includes Division I. Plus, most of them are back next year.

I have seen them play several times. They are clearly one of the best baseball teams in the nation at any level, let alone Division III. Quality kids and quality coaches at a quality school.

Re: Where is President Gordon Gee?
I agree with you ACCBiggz that the regular season and the bowl season are completely separate and that on any given day anyone can beat anyone. If that is the case, why isn't their a playoff in Division I football like in every other NCAA sport in every division? That is what makes the NCAA basketba...
