Re: #1 Portsmouth Clay vs #2 Reedsville Eastern 3/3
thunderdome, Uncalled for, calling an official out for A Call!!! A call that had nothing to do with the outcome of a game that was onesided. This game was totally dominated by Eastern from the beginning to end, period. The officiating had nothing to do with the outcome of this game-the players dete...

Re: #1 Portsmouth Clay vs #2 Reedsville Eastern 3/3
Clay handled the pressure much better than Manchester did. But, yes, they struggled to hit the rim. Especially on free throws. Defense for Clay was horrible. Eastern had all day to shoot their outside shots and they made them fall.
Good luck to Eastern in the regionals!

Re: Shawnee State Spring Soccer Scrimmage
Rio is top quality! They do get some state-side players but most of them don't play because the style of futbol is the U.S. is so different. When you have a whole team of players that understand the game in an entirely different way and mesh a lot easier, it's hard for a state-side player to jump in...

Re: #1 Portsmouth Clay vs #2 Reedsville Eastern 3/3
I'll tell you one thing...Eastern goes full throtle the whole time...they made Manchester play their game. BUT, Manchester doesn't have anyone on their team that can handle the ball like Clay's Curley can. Yes, she is a Freshman and inexperienced. But, as long as she can stay patient and keep her dr...

Re: Coaching Changes
My sister plays for FCFC and I'm glad that someone is making the right steps. But if you ask anyone from area schools in Portsmouth, no one has heard of them. FCFC aslo plays has to travel a lot. Hopefully, there will be a few more club teams being started up in the Portsmouth area.

Portsmouth Clay #1 vs Belpre #4 @ Jackson 2/24/2011
How is this matchup looking? I haven't seen or heard anything about Belpre. Went to their website, but they don't have any results of the teams they've played. What's their season result? I'll say Clay wins this 48 - 40 in a close game. Clay can be tough to beat when everyone is contributing. But if...

Re: Coaching Changes
Obviously you've never seen or played club soccer. People travel all over the state to play games, even on weekdays. Not like Scioto County where they only drive 15 minutes to the next school to play on a saturday morning. Club soccer needs to be established in this area. When I played, yes, we play...

Re: Coaching Changes
That's why I said there's really not one SCHOOL DISTRICT supporting their soccer program. Goals aren't too expensive..if you have the land, a decent pitch is not hard to maintain..if schools have a baseball field then they can take care of a pitch. Those bigger city areas just have more people dedic...

Re: Coaching Changes
Ok, let me restate myself....I mean there seems to be no dedicated programs in the SOC. By this I mean a SCHOOL DISTRICT that is 100% behind the program. Having a good team every 4 or 5 years is not what I mean. Wheelersburg and Minford are propbably the only Districts that are putting the effort in...

Re: Coaching Changes
There doesn't seem to be program in Southern Ohio, maybe other than Wheelersburg, that has a dedicated soccer program. Coaching turnover is too high for any program to develop.

I heard that Munion is trying to get take over the Boy's program also. I think it's a mistake for him to try and coach the Boys and Girls teams.

Re: Waverly at Clay 1-24-11
Other contributors for Clay were Bower with 16pts and Curley with 11pts. I wasn't at the game but I heard that Clay won the game in the 4th Qtr. with their Free Throw Shooting, which is a shock to me because the several games I've gone to they really have struggled at the line. But, Good WIN for the...

They didn't change the "over the back" call to a "push" to eliminate the foul..they changed it for reporting-sake to the scores table. The foul is still the same just simple classified under a "push" foul now.

Re: JV games in the SOC1
I absolutely agree with Falcon. As a coach, you can't push the kids to do anything because they will complain to their parents and get them involved. Varsity spots and playing time are EARNED! I've only been out of high school for 7 years now and the difference is amazing with kids these days. Paren...
