Re: REFS????
The thing is with all ref's in all sports. Most of the "good" officials are either going to the collegiate level or doing more traveling to get away from the SOC. Mainly due to the obvious, fans, coaches, players, etc. And it's going to start in the same place that players are struggling t...

Re: JV games in the SOC1
I find it hard to believe that so many schools are faced with the lack of numbers, but it may be true. I don't see the point in having a JV if it is only 2 qtrs. All the practice and time spent preparing is not worth 12 mins of play. And for Clay to have the numbers when enrollment is less than most...

Re: Ranking the SOC Fields!
1. Valley: You can't beat the turf. Had the opportunity to play on it a couple times in high school and played on it a few years in college. IMO the only fields that you will find better, that are grass, in Ohio are at Rio Grande and Cedarville Universities. 2. Webster 3. Minford 4. New Boston: I ha...

Re: CLAY AT EASTERN PIKE THURSDAY NIGHT
Clay has two convincing wins over New Boston and Symmes Valley. Clay's loss came against Western, at Western and their outside shooting just wasn't there. And should Clay have stayed with the press they would have one that game easily. Clay is a team that just needs to find consistancy. So I wouldn'...

Re: CLAY AT EASTERN PIKE THURSDAY NIGHT
I think it all depends on how Clay will run their half court offense. I didn't see Clay's last game but they have been struggling in their outside shooting the past few games. Hempill can't score all the points. Some of the girls need to step up and score, such as, Bauer, Curley, Spriggs, and Jenkin...

Re: Clay @ Western...
I'm sorry..you can't tell me that a coach doesn't have an effect when you told to execute one game plan that isn't working against a team..and then told to execute another game plan that is dominating a team and the coach goes away from that again. When Clay was pressing they didn' have to put much ...

Re: Clay @ Western...
Right, the coach doesn't play, BUT he does have a direct impact on how the girls are directed to play in the game. And when you are playing the whole second quarter on your side of the court and getting points and coming back from being down nearly 20 pts and you sit those player for the last 3 minu...

Re: Clay @ Western...
Congrats to Western on a hard faught win! Clay's demise came down to coaching ! Clay's coach couldn't make up his mind on what he wanted the girls to do and I believe he caused them the game. Not trying to take anything away from the Western ladies because they earned the win, but Clay's coach didn'...

Re: The press and girls basketball
if you want your team to suceed consistantly at breaking the press you must teach the players to keep thier head up and pass over it ....it's not how good you are at dribbling through the press all the time but you must make good passes and run the press break as you need. the ball will get down th...

Re: Clay @ Western...
I haven't seen Western play yet this season but I'm going to say Clay takes this one by 15+. I say it will be closer at the half than most will think, but Clay will pull away late in the game. It's a big court so Clay needs to make sure they are getting back in transition.
Good luck to both teams!

Re: Southern Ohio Conference Preview
Clay players looked strong but not the coaching. I know it was only the previews, but Wheelersburg handled Clay easily the next morning in their scrimmage when Clay had a clear advantage in height but was out-rebounded. Wheelersburg is constantly moving and attacking the rim..where Clay stood around...

Re: soc 1 next year , who is the fav ?
I've watched Curley play for several year now, and as long as she stays aggressive she will be fine. She's not very tall and not the quickest, BUT she can shoot the lights out of the ball and sees the floor better than any girl I've seen in a long time. She's not just a scorer but helps her team in ...

Re: soc 1 next year , who is the fav ?
Clay is definitely going to have some talent coming in. The freshmen will just need to get used to a little quicker pace and physicality then junior high. Curley and Redding are going to big contributors coming out. I think once Curley gets more comfortable and takes the shots (which she can shoot f...

Re: chesapeake at Clay 1st round tournment
A friend suggested I check the site out, Perhaps I can be of some assistance. The trophies and documents in which I have from Clay High School (right or wrong, we could argue all day I am sure) state that I hold the following records. 1. Most goals in a season (regular season*)- 27 2. Most goals in...

Re: chesapeake at Clay 1st round tournment
I don't believe that's the goals record for Clay. I'm pretty sure Jake Davis has the record and he had 20+ goals for the his senior year and I believe more than 30 his junior year. I know that the Clay records haven't been kept well for soccer because everyone believes Clay to be a basketball schoo...
