Re: Week 3: OSU @ Miami 9/17/11

"The Bucks have been great for years, every team has an off year now and then. Look at Texas and USC last year. It happens but I will keep watching and cheering the Bucks on" "Charge" is spot on in his closing statements. The off season events endured by the Buckeyes would be too...

Re: Week 3: OSU @ Miami 9/17/11

Praying to heaven I am wrong, but Miami prevails 24-13. Given the uncertainty od the NCAA investigation, abrupt coaching change, and player suspensions, 2011 is looking to be a rebuilding year, not a reloading year. Coaching can fix certain things but "slow" is not one of them. OSU is look...

Re: Week 2: OSU vs. Toledo 9/10

"If Fickell is fine with that, then I hope this is his only year as head coach. Before you bash me for that comment, consider that Fickell should be smart enough to know what he needs to do this year to keep the job!" Makes one think that with the newest round of player suspensions and the...

Re: Week 2: OSU vs. Toledo 9/10

In past years OSU has struggled with the likes of Ohio U and Marshall -- but Toledo appears to be the superior team in terms of athletic ability. At this point in the season are even six wins achieveable?

Re: Week 2: OSU vs. Toledo 9/10

Yep, my thought is they should have announced a 2 game suspension and announced it as such: "one game for the infraction, one game for being a dam idiot!" Still, the NCAA cleared Cam Newton in 8 hours for the Bama game, but cant figure out a $200 handshake in a week!!! Is LOIC and FTM bac...

Re: Week 2: OSU vs. Toledo 9/10

OSU prevails 28-17, scoring late 4th quarter to put it away. The Akron game answered many questions for me about Fick's ability to coach a game and OSU showed focus with few penalties and turnovers. Toledo will poise a better challenge to test the Bucks talent and schemes. Was OSU as good as the sco...

The Western Brown Broncos are 1 and 1 on the young season:

1.) Hillsboro 41-12
2.) Franklin 6-30

WB defeated the Tigers last year at Radiger Field 21-7.
Another uphill battle for Waverly but the players and coaching
staff deserve support from the Tiger faithfull.

Re: Week 1 Piketon @ Waverly August 26th

Congratulations to Piketon.

For fans who where able to attend the game, was Waverly actually improved in
terms of being physical along both lines of scrimmage? If so, is Waverly facing a mental
block in terms of re-learning how to win? The Tiger schedule does not get any easier.

Re: Thoughts On Pre-Season Top 25

"There aren't 5 teams on the schedule that CAN beat OSU!" However OSU can beat themselves and that is my concern. On paper, only Braska, Miami, and Wisconsin figure to be able compete with the Buckeyes. Yet inexpereince, be it game/sideline mismanagement, rookie turnovers, and lack of conf...

Re: Thoughts On Pre-Season Top 25

" These polls serve no useful purpose except to get people talking. " Agreed. Pre season polls exist to sell magazines ( at least in the pre dot com days ) and to boost tv and radio ratings. That said, we are commenting on a pre season poll to our chagrin. As to Ohio State, they are a myst...

^^^^^Have you ever even BEEN to Columbus? Old 8-3 is what they called Bruce and it cost him his job. 7-8 wins in Columbus a year and challenging for the Big Ten title evey five years is Michigan and who wants to be Michigan? OSU 68-72 SSD. I know how rabid Buck fans are, my gut is that the powers t...

Re: Luke Fickell

I think Fick will be given a chance, and that's all he asks. I think it will be an honest chance, and if he handles the season well, and wins games, then he will be the next full time coach . Any other Buckeye fan can respond also. My opinion is that Fickle has been told straight out by Gee and Smi...

Re: An SOC/OVC merger would produce some dandies

Omega - your explanation makes sense. Thank you for your kind response and I do enjoy your unique way with words and phrases. I admit I am fuzzy on the history of the SVC but as to the quality of SOC football during the 50's and 60's, I remember it, played in it, and it was honestly not a good prod...

Re: An SOC/OVC merger would produce some dandies

The Chef finds it interesting Piketon would leave the SOC to join SVC --. Knocking the cobwebs from the memory of my feeble mind, Piketon's move from the SOC to the SVC was motivated by finding a more equal level of competition, especially in football. To put it politely, the Red Streaks were so bad...

Re: OSU to open with Vandy in 2013

"I think it's a great move, and vandy is not by any means a slouch. " The Bucks could well be into their second year of severe scholarship penalties handed down by the NCAA when this game rolls around. If so, would a game with Directional Michigan be more winnable than a match up with Mamb...

Re: Uh-oh: Jim Tressel could be in major NCAA hot water

I feel this incident may be more damaging to the OSU football program than some think. Lying, or being charitable, witholding information from the University and the NCAA is a violation against the heart of the principals of instituional control. OSU's offical actions in this matter are at best an a...

Please past the salt as the crow I am trying to swallow is a little bland,

Iowa's win surprised me. Given their acedemic-gate and late season collapse I really did not expect the Hawkeyes to play with intensity. Hats off to them!
