Re: Minford 2008
I am sure the team will take it one game at a time. I'd also expect Coal Grove to have a very good team. Coal Grove should be good, and Huntington Ross always gives Minford a close game year in and year out, you can count on that. Take it one game at a time and this will be another good year for th...

Re: Minford 2008
The key to Minford will be the development of the O line where both TEs, a tackle, and two guards graduated. M This is always the key to any team, without an o-line even the best skill players won't do any good. That's the way it always is with the o-line though, over-looked when things are good, b...

Re: Minford 2008
I hear the Falcons have looked sharp in passing camps up to this point. If they can have a punishing run game as well as a high powered passing attack this should be a great year for Minford!

Re: SOC II 2008
I think that being older can only help it's hard to aruge against being another year older helping your althletic ability though. It's beed said though, if you wan't older kids in high school either hold them back or have some type of pre-k or pre-1st option in the primary school years. But back to ...

I'm going out on a limb here, but I could see the mohawks taking this one. At least I hope so.

Any news on what schools were there and how they looked? Jackson always does a fine job hosting these passing camps. Don't they usually have more than one? Does anyone know when the others are?

Re: Minford 2008
I have read this ,and Im glad to see that Minford has already beat Wellston. If you think Wellston will be the same as last year ,thats good for Wellston. Well, apparently you haven't read this all, everyone from Minford has said that there are 3 games before the Falcons have to worry about coal gr...

Re: Minford 2008
Sounds like the team is actually stronger top to bottom than last year. I would venture to say that there is no other team in the S.O.C. II that will be stronger than the Falcons this year.

Re: 3rd annual "Are Power Cleans Good for Football" Debate
Cleans are the single mos important exercise a football player (or many explosive-type athletes) can do. No one exercise is the end all be all of strength but If I could only do one exercise that would be it. What do tackling, blocking, and running all have in common...EXPLOSION. Who cares if a pla...

Re: 3rd annual "Are Power Cleans Good for Football" Debate
Bench, Squat, and Deadlift can also be extremely dangerous lifts if done at high weight with poor form. As a matter of fact, I can't think of any lift that is "safe" with high weight and poor form, and still yet we insist that football players lift wieghts. It would be a shame to see a pla...

Re: Summer is here, time for football
Seasons are won and lost in the WINTER weight training and conditioning. Summer is merely a time to refine and convert all of this newfound strength into something that can be effectively used on the field. Both are extremely important though, to win you have to do both. One is no good without the o...

To really be a good team you must be balanced in all phases of the game. But you know what they say "Defense wins Championships".

Re: TOP 15 TEAMS IN SEO
Luck is when hard work meets preparation. If that is the case, Minford will be fine this year. No doubt. Simply joking about where they were placed, even though the dude said they were placed in no particular order. I figured, just wanted to use that quote. I think the burg/ironton debate will be s...

Re: TOP 15 TEAMS IN SEO
First of all, it depends on what all teams you are including in SE Ohio. For my list I will include all schools that the people who frequent this site generally consider to be "local". Here is a list of 15 teams, NOT necessarily in order. I'm sure that I will forget someone... 13. Minford...

Re: Weight room turn out
90-100 kids in Minford, boy I guess someone has them excited about football out there. Everything I've ever read about Minford lack of success is due to poor turnout. So, with 90-100 as you say we'll see if that theory holds true and we should expect Minford to have a winning season. The entire SYS...

Re: Minford 2008
So, I don't know if anyone has heard of the problems that River Valley is having. But, they don't even have a coach yet, and there is talk about dropping football and getting soccer soon. The only reason I bring this up is because River Valley is the opening game on the schedule. I mean, if they dr...

Re: WHEELERSBURG @ MINFORD 4/16/08
without farmer pitching Minford will have to hope that the pirates bats are abnormally quiet, which probably wont happen, or that the hits find gloves. Burg is the favorite, but I agree that it is nice to see a test for both teams and wish both tteams the best. I agree that Farmer is a good pitcher...

Re: Smith Leaves Marshall not a big surprise
I hated to hear this, I played against him some and always thought he had the talent to do very well at the next level. Was this stress-related at all? I would say that a battle for the top QB position at a D-I program would be nerve wracking to say the least. Hopefully he can get past this and come...
