Re: 15 new Ohio teams for me this season

Rock Hill has a very nice facility! Plenty of seating on both sides. The only downside is the parking. The stadium is on a hill, so there’s some walking to get to the gate.

Re: OHSAA to go to 12 playoff teams per Region

Glad to see this. It still gives teams that play a tougher schedule the opportunity to make the playoffs. And will help eliminate some ugly first round games.

Re: Former OVC Member schools

I completely forgot about St.Joe. Thanks for the info! I heard a rumor a while back that saint joe was bringing football back in 2025. Can't imagine they would have the numbers to do that. I think the St Joe mentioned above is Huntington St Joe.. The Huntington school was in process of starting a v...

Re: Former OVC Member schools

Ironton St. Joe certainly needs to be on the list. Wikipedia has a list of and information on active and defunct Ohio High School athletic conferences but the OVC is missing. Memory has a vague recollection that pre A-plant boom Wheelersburg, West, East, New Boston and Notre Dame may have been in a...

Former OVC Member schools

Folks,

I am trying to do some research and see who the first members of the OVC. I do know some of the former ones that come to mind are;

C/K
Buffalo Wayne
Symmes Valley
Oak Hill
Wheelersburg?

Anyone else have any information?

Re: Consolidation Topic

One issue with consolidation is this. How many districts have built new facilities in the past few years? Green,New Boston,Rock Hill, and several others have newer buildings and athletic facilities. Coal Grove has built new indoor athletic facilities. Ironton has built one also. Plus, throw in how w...

Re: OVC Looking for more teams

Of some of the schools mentioned, SV , RV , and Oak Hill were members of the OVC at one point in time. SV and Oak Hill were in the conference back in the 80s. River Valley left probably 10 years ago. Also at one point, before a merger, Buffalo Wayne, now part of Spring Valley, was in the OVC. I beli...

Re: OHSAA Football Playoff Structure Survey Sent To Member Schools

There have been some cases where a 14-16 seed has won their first round game and moved on. Wheelersburg made it all the way to the regional championship as the 14 seed this past season. However, I still think 16 is too many. If they wanted more teams in, then consider making the regions smaller. I r...

I think the new coach has made believers out of them. I’m not sure what they return, but believe they should have another winning season.

Ironton, Burg, and Jackson are the top three.
I’d put Fort Frye and West as the other two in the top 5

Re: IRONTON FIGHTING TIGERS! 2024 DIVISION 5 STATE CHAMPIONS!

Congratulations to Ironton! I listened to it on the radio while I was working. It sounded like it was a battle for the ages. Ironton takes a 14-0 lead, Liberty Center gets some momentum and goes into the half only down by 5. I still can’t figure out how Terry wasn’t even considered for Mr. Football!...

Re: Ironton v Liberty Central State Championship 2024

Congratulations to Ironton for winning the title! I didn’t get to watch it due to being at work, but did listen to it on the radio. It sounded like an epic battle between both teams. Ironton jumps out to a 14-0 lead, Liberty Center makes it a 5 point game going into the locker room for halftime. I s...

Re: What do you believe it will take for more SEO teams to be more relevant?

I think the drive to want to get better for one. When Marion Local started their dominance in the early 00’s, the MAC didn’t kick them out, everyone figured out a way to get better. Coldwater became another standard bearer, and since then, how many years has the MAC sent 3 teams to the state champi...

Re: What do you believe it will take for more SEO teams to be more relevant?

A good start would be to get rid of “ Daddy ball” youth leagues. Take those first few years to develop and hone the basics. Example blocking, tackling, basic plays. By middle school, expand upon the varsity’s playbook, develop a kicking game. Keeping a coach around and letting them develop a program...
