Re: 2011 Boy's Scores
St. Joe beat West 10-1. West's defense fell apart. They wouldn't get in front of the ball. The offense had several oppurtunities but couldn't finish it off. All but maybe 4 or 5 shots St. Joe took hit the back of the net. This team has a lot more talent than any team West has had in the past few yea...
Re: West 2011
Any thoughts on how they played at the previews?

Re: Southern Ohio Conference Preview
Thats definitely not the same West team as last year. They led for half of the game before they gave it up late.

Re: 2011
I think they have 75+ at full strength. 3 weeks of band camp and they have almost their entire show on the field.
Re: West 2011
They scrimmaged Clay this morning and from what I heard it was either 5-5 or a 5-4 loss. They were playing without one of their team captains too. From the way they've been playing these last few scrimmages, it looks like they have a chance to be a decent team this year.
Re: West 2011
Only 5 seniors next year, one's a new player and one may not be able to play due to an injury. It's gonna be a really rough year for West.

Re: Portsmouth West Head Coaching Job
One of the players told me he's 80% sure Shaffer will get the job.

Re: SOC Championships
The Girls SOC I championship literally went down to the wire. By the last event, Valley and Oak Hill were deadlocked at 64, and the runner for Valley passed Oak Hill's runner about 5 meters from the finish after staying side by side nearly the whole lap to grab the championship. Definitely one of th...

Re: 2011-SOC updates
I saw the times and I believe the Portsmouth West boys brought their time down to a 10:59 at Burg a few weeks ago. Newman from West improved her discus throw to an 82'3" tonight, and Roe improved his high jump to 5'10".
Re: West 2011
It doesn't surprise me that West ignores the obvious best choice for coach and hires someone from out of the area.
Re: West 2011
I have no idea what's taking them so long, but from what I heard its likely that Tim Wolfe will get the spot. I would be REALLY surprised if someone else gets it.

Re: 2011
Well, in any case, I was told he is no longer listed as a judge on Omea's website.

Re: 2011
The point isn't that he pointed out the underage performer, its the fact that he did his best to keep them from going to state. He's lost his job since then, so that isn't gonna be a problem anymore.

Re: 2011
They had an "underage performer"..all she did was bring a flower out to the field. Although she performed at every competition, nothing was said about it until the very last one they played at.

Re: 2011
So the band is going to get bigger after not having qualified for states in 2010 AND they're going to be one of the best? I'm going to have to disagree with that. They missed state because of a judge that was basically out to get them. Hard to believe someone who's supposed to be a professional wou...

Re: Coaching Changes
Scott Davis officially resigned as soccer coach from West. Sad to see him go; he's a really good man and he was enthusiastic about building a good team. He might not have a soccer background, but he gave his heart and soul to that program. Hopefully the assistant from last year will take the reigns ...

Re: Coaching Changes
If the assistant takes over for West, they will have a decent team. He knows soccer, and if the kids listen to him, they will become good soccer players. Its just gonna take some discipline and hard work over the summer.

Re: 2011
Watch out for Portsmouth West. They're gonna be pushing 90 members and could easily be one of the best bands in southern Ohio.
Re: West 2011
Ryan Middleton personally told me he made the club in Chilli, but I'm pretty sure he's the only one.
