Re: Ironton boys basketball job?
I believe the job was offered to Coach Fitch from Western but he decided to turn it down..I think a couple others have applied but no one that stands out above anyone else. No front runners in the group it seems. Who would come there without a teaching position. Not many

Re: Ironton boys basketball job?
Kids suffer because of their parents. Kids are no different now than they were years ago. The problem now is the parents want to be to involved .some of them think they know more than they actually do. Let the coaches coach and the parents mind their own business.I think a lot of older more experien...

Re: Ironton boys basketball job?
I think what you are saying isnt true. I just dont think these committies and boards know what they are doing when looking for s coach. The old school type coaches need to be brought back if they beat the bushes and ask around. They would be far better off

Re: Ironton boys basketball job?
Evidently, at this point not one good or experienced coach with a solid background wants the job, thus leading the way for McKnight to get the job. He'll keep the same staff in tact and all are happy. They have a teaching job for him so there you are. Just looking from the outside in I'd say with th...

Re: Ironton boys basketball job?
If Ironton had to bring back LaFon after he quit that doesnt say much for the basketball program. Pretty bad that no one with experience wants the job.

Re: Ironton boys basketball job?
I would think the perfect coach would be the righr coach. Its a shame that theres not a list of good coaches to pick from. Maybe they should check back with some of the older or past coaches. You never know. One of them could be interested

Re: Ironton boys basketball job?
Its a no brainer for Ironton to hire Fitch becausr he is hands doen the brst qualified coach that has applied. As gar as what N2Hoops said you definitely have to run a program but there is a lot more involved that just that. Game adjustments, selling your kids on what you want them to do and yhe rol...

Re: Ironton boys basketball job?
I heard from another coach that PJ Fitch could be the front runner. Hes from Western. The McKnight boy is in the running also. It wouldnt shock me if he gets it. Just depends if they hire the best coach or go with politics

I think Hiland will win, but I dont think it will be a 30 plus point victory.

Re: 3/12 8:15 Coal Grove vs Hiland
Sitting here in my car reflecting on the game. BH wasnt a super team by no means. They were disciplined, and played within themselves. Very soild on defense and did nothing to beat themselves. On the other hand CG didnt come out with te fire that I expected them to with the magnitude of this game at...

Re: 3/12 8:15 Coal Grove vs Hiland
Berlin has a veteran coach. They are very well coached disciplined, patient and play very good fundamental defense. They wont beat themselves. Not that I wouldnt like to see the Hornets win this one but Ive got to go with a more well balanced team offensivel and defensively in Hiland

Re: Convo: 3/2 3PM Ironton (5) vs Adena (1)
The waverly sectional wasnt as weak as most thought. The ovc wasnt that tough. Fairland won it with an entirely new team. Ironton had most everyone back. That tells me a few things. Not surprizedat all that Ironton lost

Re: Portsmouth v Portsmouth West 2/18 6:15 @ Waverly
West was the better team. Poor game management at the end by west coach. They shouldnt have been in that situation to lose. But it was a poor call by the ref at the end

Nothiing for Ironton to be proud of by beating Portsmouth. Its the worst Trojan team in the history of the school.
