Re: Montgomery and Kayser the best duo in southeast ohio
Everyone has an opinion, I’d take the miller, spradlin, cougil, salyers team over any of the ones mentioned, didn’t some of those teams play each other? Miller would have been a freshmen or sophomore when Gagai and Waginger were at Ironton. Spradlin might have been a freshmen or 8th grader. They we...

Re: Monroe Central
Glad he came over to MC. I’m sure playing Martins Ferry has to be more exciting than playing Paden City lol.Tucker Howell is clearly the leader of the team but Chance is an outstanding #2. It’s exciting to see how young this team is and the talent playing on the JV team. This is a start of a nice r...

Re: Rivalries in the SE
Marietta and Warren have been great rivals for years. Gyms are always packed for that one. +1 Marietta vs Warren is always a hard fought game with great crowds. Even when Marietta has been overmatched for the past decade+. There a some very good teams standing in their way, but a Marietta/Warren di...

Re: Rivalries in the SE
Several years ago, Warren and Logan had a good rivalry. Legitimate dislike, fans were intense. Games in the old coliseum were wild. Now that Marietta seems to be on the come up, it’s starting to become a true rivalry with parity again. Hopefully that trend keeps going.

Re: Twin State League Boys Hoops
Interesting games: — I see Point beating Gallia by 10 or more and losing to Marietta by 6-10 points. — Fort edges Morgan by 3 and loses by 25 to Warren. — Warren beats Parkersburg if they can stop Rodriguez. They should win by 12. —Marietta could struggle with Point Pleasant but should win and Satu...

Re: Twin State League Boys Hoops
The way they can recruit it's closer to a very small d3 college squad...they were big and fast, first game for them and they haven't quite come together yet...they have I think 8 new transfers to integrate this year...#15 was an absolute stud I heard that a ton of schools are considering dropping L...

I talked to Maddox at a football game and he told me they’re anticipating 1 senior, 1 junior, and 10 sophomores to dress for varsity games. Easily the youngest team he’s ever had.

Re: Since when is 4-1 an insurmountable lead?
In baseball, you win by as much as you can, as often as you can. There is a time for going station to station and not taking extra bases. However, anytime before that is not a place for the opposing team’s feelings. If they’re down by what they perceive as too many runs, they should get better. And ...

Re: Locals in NCAA tournament
Did thoroughman from clay, loop from Webster, Burleson from BURG, yeagle from minford or Jeff lisath from portsmouth make any appearances? Pretty sure Rodney Holden made an appearance with the Herd and Huckaby. Also, rick Scarberry, green, made a couple. Thoroughman made sweet 16 as a 6 man and may...

Re: Biggest Tournament Upsets
I would submit the 1996-97 Belpre Golden Eagles as far as the best run. Finishing 8-12 in the regular season before making it to the state tournament that year, finishing 14-13. wins over Chesapeake (62-59) in the regional semi and then Shenandoah (66-41) in the regional final. They then lost to Cl...

Re: Who's in... Who's out?
Ryan Lemley stepped down at Warren and Chad Porter, OVU’s former coach, took over. He also helps coach football. Surprised Lemley stepped down. He is still principal there, correct? He is still the principal, yes. Administrative responsibilities and baseball responsibilities were beginning to build...

Re: Who to watch in southern ohio
Warren should be the favorite in the D2 SE District. Seth Dennis, Kurt Taylor and Evan Gandee are all top tier players in the area. Taylor as a P, while Dennis and Gandee are the best middle infield in the area. Caleb Davis and Hunter Vincent are two juniors who will contribute in a big way as well...
