Re: Wheelersburg 2022
Wheelersburg lost some good players especially on defense that set the tone for the rest of the team. Lost the best corner (DB) in the area. Williams was very underrated. Swords, Brumfield (sp?) etc. They will be able to fill with solid athletes, but can they fill in the selfless toughness that thos...

Re: Are transfers ok?
There are no good answers here. What you are seeing is the final few years of the OHSAA. I think we’ll be club teams in 10 years or less and probably should be. They have lost control. Wheelersburg being upset about transfers is comical. Most of the better players at Wheelersburg are transplant fami...

Re: Enrollment Data
When the numbers were posted Ironton was at 183 and Wheelersburg was at 181 Now Ironton is at 177 and Wheelersburg is 176 These are the numbers when school started in the fall? What if a player transfers out after school starts? What are the rules to this? How could a count be off 5 and 6 boys? Usin...

Re: SOC II 2022-23
SOC2. Valley, Webster, Minford, and West return the most players from the better teams. Valley should win it but they have question marks scoring in the paint, defending the paint, and rebounding. You kinda saw as the year went on teams became better at handling their pressure and made them play mor...

I don’t see any great teams in the area next year. Could be the most balanced and average that the area has ever been.

Re: 2022-2023 Outlook
Yes Stuart
Big loss. More of a perimeter player but besides the other Stewart was the only legit size on the floor. The other Stewart can be a force inside but he has issues playing a lot of minutes and gets in foul trouble.

Re: Ironton HS multi-game event
You can't win with home grown talent. You gotta recruit. Screw ironton. You are truly a has-been team relying on outside talent to sustain a run that got ur ass whooped on a neutral field. Cmon, John. You are better, or at least I thought. Be honest! Kirtland wins with homegrown talent. I’m pretty ...

Re: End of an Era at Valley.......
The truth is it’s not gonna matter who the coach is the next 3 seasons. The talent isn’t there to win against the better teams of the SOC2 and that is with the current Juniors, who are talented. Numbers just aren’t there. 2023 and 2024 Valley will be bad bad seasons. I know Darren was getting close ...

Re: Letter to all- great read, and so true!!
Good post. Couple people hit on the biggest issues I’ve seen. Consistency. If it’s a foul at the beginning it should be at the end of the game too. Referees swallowing their whistles at the end of the game as to not influence game are doing just that. A foul is a foul. The biggest issue I have is al...

Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio-Week#4
For sure, and Buckle hustles and gets you 6-10 a night so with him out, and what you said above…not too bad. Piketon also played Waverly tough in a 2 point loss earlier in the year. Not to be a downer, but Waverly beat Piketon by about 40 in their foundation game Oh wow, I saw a score of a game pla...

Re: 12/10 Waverly at Minford
Like we said Waverly is good but very beatable. They have 1 inside player and their whole offense is about 1 guy. Scoring a bunch of points off pressure defense doesn’t mean you can do that against good teams.

Waverly is good, but they lost games last year. They lost some good players off that team. Reading these comments make them sound unbeatable

Re: Anticipated Coaching Vacancies for 2022
Valley opening will be real interesting to watch. Phenomenal facilities, good numbers on the way again, and D6/D7. One of best coaching jobs in southeastern Ohio.* Numbers where? They have a decent 8th grade class gonna be freshmen. But I think you’ll see several of those kids focus on Baseball and...

Re: 2022 Portsmouth Trojans
Portsmouth should be playing Wheelersburg. They had no reason to stop other than ducking losses. Portsmouth had a good season. But one season isn’t a program. This year they had a lot of talent and 3 year starters. We’ll see if they can overcome those losses to graduation and stay competitive or fal...

Re: 2022 Portsmouth Trojans
Oh yeah. Portsmouth going back to the run game in 2 years lol. The Parker kid I’m hearing will be better than his brother. I watched some film on him and he’s really fast. Trojans go spread offense 1 more year and it’s back to seeing a #1 in the backfield. Give the kid a break he’s in the 7th grade...

Re: Ironton 2022
As far as being a huge mistake for the OVC schools to let Ironton go Independent I don't know why that would be the case honestly, Ironton isn't making their schools play better football if they were records would be better and league competition would be better. Because that would allow Ironton to...

Re: Ironton 2022
Ironton can go independent in football. They can find 10 football games. The problem is filling schedules for all the other sports. And not just filling games, but having travel expenses and times that make sense for Baseball, Basketball, Tennis, Softball, etc. What Ironton really needs to decide is...

Re: Ironton 2022
#76 is a huge loss defensively
He was such a piece in the middle. Allowed Ironton the luxury of playing a 3-4 and not being hurt with interior run. That and #25 with him who is committed to Kentucky
You don’t replace guys like that. Defense takes a big step back against the run

Re: Jacquez Keys averaged over 10 yards per carry on season for Tigers but his touches were limited
Ironton has not been disciplined the last few years. Turnovers (Fumbles especially). For the most part they have been physically dominant enough over local teams to overcome it.

Re: Ironton 2022
First Happy Thanksgiving Ironton will be good. But not to the level they have been physically. They’ve lost some great players the last 2 years. You don’t replace guys like that unless you get a bunch of transfers, which several of those guys were. Just talking to people and what I see a lot of the ...
