South Point probably not top 3 in the OVC, much less the district.

Portsmouth is the best OVC team I’ve seen with Ironton and Fairland close behind. South Point can beat any of them but aren’t nearly as deep.

Agreed, Africentric a quality win but not a normal Africentric team. Saw a bunch of teams better than them across two days.

Old system had flaws too. A lot depended on how many league teams in your sectional. At the end of the day, win your games and it all works out.

What’s an extra teacher cost? At most $70,000 of an 8 figure budget? If he’s a great football coach, it’s the best community relations tool you can have.

It’s worth it if he’s worth it. Find a way.

You find a job to make it work if he’s your guy. Or make up a job for a year or two.

Maybe he read all your posts about wealth not mattering, only coaching?

Could have been much worse, Ironton up 20 early and played all their guys.

Tigers lose by 4 or 6. Huntington very athletic but not skilled, athleticism won tonight.

Slam dunk move once the SOC stayed for 2 divisions in football. If Northwest goes somewhere, SOC will need to make some sort of a move. I just don’t see where Northwest goes.

Perhaps the great coaches who are in poorer areas with worse community support cannot shine through? The fact that they cannot be found doesn’t mean they don’t exist. And because of this, great coaches find their way to great jobs, which are typically those in richer areas with more community support.

Seems like 21st is stacked with local teams and 22nd with prep teams. Lots of intriguing matchups on day 1.

Fairland probably more ready for this game given who they’ve played so far. Ironton will be there at the end but has to play better defensively. The game where you give up 60 to Coal Grove is the type of effort that gets you run out of your own gym.

So many problems could be solved if OVC took in Oak Hill and Northwest while SOC took in Ironton and Portsmouth.

Ironton has to win this one if they want to be in the OVC race.

OVC should be a great league this year. Everybody needs to defend their home court and steal a few on the road to win. So this is a big one for Ironton. Need Terry to feel good about it.
