Re: The Pendelton effect at Ironton, has changed Wheelersburg football forever.
Correct me if I’m wrong here, Didn’t 2-3 years ago didn’t Burg get one of Portsmouth’s most talented players in Southern Ohio. The way I saw that was in football and basketball the Burgs record in each sport wouldn’t have been as good as it ended up, yes he was 1 player but he was at least the best...

The softball team this year did have transfer you are full of it.the starting 3rd baseman transfered in as a freshman Sorry, I missed one out of 19 girls; approximately 5%. Now how does this number compare to the transfers within other school’s softball programs? Since the claim is that Burg lives ...

Re: The Pendelton effect at Ironton, has changed Wheelersburg football forever.
Hahaha!! Someone has started July 4th early and cracked a few open this AM. Wheelersburg invented the transfer game! Either that or you are absolutely clueless. Wheelersburg lives on transfers and implants. Their entire school system from youth sports on lives on alumni from other areas or people w...

Re: The Pendelton effect at Ironton, has changed Wheelersburg football forever.
Since Trevon Pendleton took over as head coach of the Ironton Fighting Tigers in 2019, the football rivalry between Ironton High School and Wheelersburg High School has experienced a significant shift in momentum, favoring Ironton. Under Pendleton's leadership, Ironton has secured multiple consecut...

Josh Wright passed away Friday night unexpectedly. Most of his coaching career was at Philo. He coached at Tri-Valley a couple decades ago and returned last year. He was named head coach last month. Re: Is Pendleton leaving Ironton?
To me and just my opinion. Pendleton shouldnt make any more than Coach Lutz made as the football coach until Trevon surpasses what Coach Lutz accomplished. He has done a good job and he is paid to do that. Let’s first start out and bring his salary down to below a teacher’s salary in the district m...

From the sounds of things you don’t know either. I’m sure there’s always two sides to every story. Don’t believe what you hear. I have heard rumblings that Ashland and Ironton plan to play in 2 years. 2027 season The list of teams that have a problem with Pendleton seems to be numerous. Sounds like...

Re: OHSAA to go to 12 playoff teams per Region
8 is the sweet spot imo. 4 wasn’t enough, 16 was too many, 12 is better but 8 was perfect imo. Anyone complaining about not having 16 didn’t witness These schools down 55-0 at halftime, kids getting hurt and so on against the top seeds. There were a few upsets, my own Alma mater Portsmouth as a 15 ...

Re: Ironton has Filled their Open Date with an Opponent!
What is the incentive money going towards your athletic department. What’s the incentive for Burg? IHS-Burg is a huge gate. That is the biggest money making game for both schools. For a school like Marion Local? IHS is not such a big gate for them, especially when fan travel is considered. Can get ...

Re: Ironton has Filled their Open Date with an Opponent!
I agree when teams are chicken 💩 to play them. It comes down to incentive. What really is the incentive for schools to schedule IHS? IHS already plays Burg and Jackson; second and third best programs in the area. And IHS dumped most the OVC teams, so that doesn’t leave many options on the Ohio side...

Question: given how good ND and Burg have been, why do these schools not play during the regular season?

That doesn’t make sense for Northwest given the travel. Would up their travel costs with no revenue benefit.REDMAN wrote: Fri Jun 06, 2025 9:56 am if i am northwest i jump to the ovc. the trip won’t be bad with the new highway and the competition would be about the same plus i bet it cuts down on transfers

Re: Ironton has Filled their Open Date with an Opponent!
Snoozer, this one will be a blowout, sub .500 team from Pennsylvania isn't what I was hoping to see in this open slot. One of the challenges to being independent is that you end up having to schedule a game like this. Will see more of these games as scheduling becomes more challenging. I agree when...
