Re: Irontons Carrico and Perkins both enter transfer portal day one
It’s all a crapshoot. CJ Hicks, #2 LB nationally, and a “can’t miss” prospect will be starting his third season next year and hasn’t played any meaningful minutes. And yes, preseason testing at the start of his sophomore year the coaches did mention that Reid was the fastest player in the linebacker...

Re: Irontons Carrico and Perkins both enter transfer portal day one
I was only hoping he finished a degree before moving on. I believe he has been there long enough. Anyway, I wish all these kids the best Reid started at tOSU in the spring semester of 2021. At the end of the current fall semester, that would be 3 years at tOSU. So I'm assuming he is a full year shy...

Re: Toledo Central Catholic plays in a Detroit based conference
A catholic school that recruits to build a powerhouse football program in Ohio is the “future of high school football?” Are you serious? Where have you been the past 50 years if you think this is the future? Catholic schools in Ohio have been dominating the state playoffs since the system began in ...

Re: Toledo Central Catholic plays in a Detroit based conference
Possibly the best team in the state last year. Certainly one of the top teams this year. Tiny school. I think they only have around 200 boys. They get the pick of the liter in the Toledo area. CB number is huge. Future of high school football. I’m good with it if I get to watch quality ball at a hi...

Re: Kirtland vs Versailles
How’s the girls sports? Oddly enough the best female athletes at our school are the cheerleaders. They’ve got a trophy case full from state and national competitions. If you don’t mind me asking, what school district are you in? I have family in the Center Grove district and they seem to be dominan...

Massillon finally won a championship on the field, thanks in large part to Owen’s and Pringle who both transferred in from Copley. Teams like TCC, Hoban, St. Eds, Massillon, Lasalle, Moeller live on transfers. Liberty Center has a high CB number for a smallish public school. Preps entire football c...

Re: Kirtland vs Versailles
No doubt. Unbelievable the success. That said, Versailles won most of those titles before joining the MAC. But given that all of these schools are in the same geographical area, the question is: what happened around 1990 that started this winning trend? Also, what happened around 2000 to take this ...

Strong. Excellent volleyball, basketball and soccer programs. My granddaughter was just awarded a scholarship for college soccer. Overall sports are basically strong in all sports regardless of gender. Swimming, tennis and wrestling programs also make deep advances at state yearly. That being said o...

Re: Kirtland vs Versailles
That being said. There is an unusually heavy pressure on the kids to succeed. A few years back we had a rash of student suicides that drew some national level attention and required some outside professional assistance. We had a senior quarterback, best athlete in the school with lots of D1 offers, ...

Re: Ironton 2024 DB Josh Johnson
UMass Toledo WVU Seriously, how does IHS have this many college D1 athletes and not just dominate Ohio D5 football? Line of scrimmage, lack of cohesion, lack of discipline, very young. Not excuses, just the way it is. Hopefully they can improve on some of these issues before these sophomores and ju...

Re: Wheelersburg v Harvest Prep
Ironton fan here. Go Burg! Would like to see a SEO team advance. Like Ironton, Prep has a lot of holes though they’re different. I think Burg can pull it out if they just play solid football with no turnovers and minimal penalties. Unfortunately for both, I think the DV championship is being played ...

Re: Ironton v Harvest Prep
Wouldn’t be surprised to see Johnson get some run at receiver next year. 6-3 with speed to burn. I imagine Edwards will be tossing it to Roach, Terry, Schreck and possibly Johnson. Williams, Carmen and Copas in the backfield. It’ll all depend on someone’s ability to coach up a huge offensive line. T...

Re: Heath @ Ironton
The list would obviously be longer for Lutz since he did coach at Ironton for almost 40 years. Pendleton is in year 6? I think a better way to view the talent is to compare it against their competition. Lutz coached against far more talented teams than what Pendleton has seen. Lutz saw Moss, Snow, ...

Re: Heath @ Ironton
Big difference from then to now: 1. Lutz rarely got blown out. Only exception was the loaded MLC team. Pendleton hasn’t seen a team like that, including Moeller. 2. Lutz had talented teams but often played against teams with more talent. Pendleton has always had the more talented team. 3. IHS was a...
