TLDR: It's a Popeye character and a tongue-in-cheek reference to their basketball team cheating.

What's the purpose of the rule? Is it connected to when hoops were more fragile?

Re: North Adams v. South Webster

It's water under the bridge now, but two blown calls on the same play.... come on the Center and the AR both had enough common sense to call the obvious foul in box... the NA player completely climb on Jeeps #5's back and shoved him down to the ground - everyone was able to see that. Just hate to s...

https://www.youtube.com/live/WGZAJGuhRAE?si=vP_5ukiv0Tx-2_cN 22:42 left in the game. Set piece by Webster. Pretty obvious. Yes, absolutely robbed of a goal on a phantom offsides call. I understand officials missing calls as nobody can see everything. But calling or guessing something is 100% unacce...

Re: 2025 Southeast District Boys Soccer

I have decided that since there is very little participation that i am not going to continue posting on this thread. Thank you to those that have helped me throughout the years . I appreciate you! Good Luck to all! I appreciate the work you did, but MaxPreps is handy enough to keep up with. Maybe t...

Re: Officiating

Referees have the authority to remove any fan from the stands that is abusive. I don't understand why they don't use that authority more often. They have the right to stop the game, seek out the administrator and ask the administrator to resolve situations. Referees are not supposed to interact wit...

Re: Officiating

Shortage is crazy- need some young bucks without beer bellies that can actually run. There needs to be more advertisement for HS & College kids to get out there. Have yet to see a decent official in SEO. Hope this changes soon. There's a couple great ones. The guy that was center for WVU's (#10...

Re: Officiating

I have seen some bad ones this year, but no need to assault anyone. Does soccer have a system in place to have the assigner or whoever go out and watch the refs like they do in football or basketball? Is there any type of review or anything like that after games? I know there is a shortage, and I d...

Re: Officiating

There was a physical assault on a referee in Gallia just Saturday afternoon.

What does “accountability” mean to you as it relates to poor referee performances?

Re: Dragonfly athletic website

It can be a good site but I would not rely on it for scheduling purposes. It is not up to date. There isn't a better place for schedules. Some coaches/admins are quick to update MaxPreps, but that's not official. Dragonfly is the collaborative scheduling software for all OHSAA sports. It's populate...

Yep. Dragonfly is OHSAA's official partner for scheduling and referee assigning as of last year

Re: Jr high soccer games/scrimmages

Muskingum County has a solid set-up, in my opinion. Zanesville Arsenal SC is the local club with a boys & girls team in almost each age group, but 11v11 teams(U13 & up) only play a spring schedule. This allows the local middle-schools to not have to compete with the fall club season. Which ...

I saw a South Webster U15? boys team in a tournament hold their own in a Charleston Club tournament against clubs from Maryland and North Carolina. There's a bright future with that group! I wish the Washington County schools would start Jr High soccer. That was us. Actually jr high soccer with the...

As far as I can see no changes at all. Getting closer and closer to the summer and scrimmages. I wonder if there will be any surprise teams to shake things up a bit this upcoming fall. On the boys side the only change that popped out to me was Gallia bumped up to be the smallest DIII in the state t...

Re: 2025 Season(Boys)

I don't see any of the current D3 and D4 teams moving around. After seeing how the tournaments played out, I think the expansion was too much. I think four divisions, with only D1 being a low-number division would be better. That, or make D5 a small division too so D3 and D4 are larger. There should...

Re: Football/Soccer

Soccer without stands is very normal. Any experienced soccer parent has a collection of camp chairs and pop-up canopies. Even when you visit mature HS soccer programs with dedicated game fields (Warren, Marietta, Unioto, Gallia) you'll find plenty of spectators brining their own chairs and leaving e...
