Re: Portsmouth Trojans 22-23 Basketball

If Jeff takes the job (assuming it's his if he wants it), I think he needs to surround himself with a good staff in order to rebuild the program. Get the feeder system better which builds to your junior high. Defensively fundamentals need to be taught at the lower level (instead of playing 2-3 zone)...

Re: Portsmouth lady Trojans

I completely agree with you. The lady trojans have nothing to lose in this situation and you give yourself/team an idea of where they measure at in order to get to that level.

Re: 2023 OHSAA State Boys Basketball Tournament Attendance Numbers...Down From 2022

Every year same old dead horse BS. People need to get over the recruiting whining crap,it's not only the big city schools doing it,it's happening in the little hick towns all over Ohio, small town wanna bes will never compete with big city schools, they are simply out numbered, why is it ok for litt...

Re: 2023 OHSAA State Boys Basketball Tournament Attendance Numbers...Down From 2022

Small town teams make the atmosphere so much better. I felt like I was watching a COVID year basketball game between Prep and Lutheran East, pretty much just parents and a small student section. Watching OG, Russia, Centerville, Crestview, and Ready is what makes those state games exciting is when t...

Re: South Webster - Head Coach

But when they only stay for 3 years then dump off the job to a younger coach that has 4 years of down years and then get fired because they were not developed by the previous coach. Don't get me wrong I'd take Norm, Barrick, or Howie over any young coach but I was just stating that's why you don't s...

Re: South Webster - Head Coach

You missed what I was saying. I was stating that if you have a younger coach apply and an older coach such as norm, howie, or barrick then more than likely they are going to go with the older coach. Some of the older coaches only stay there for the talent and once the talent leaves then boom they ar...

Re: Waverly Basketball - Head Coach

If this job was D3 it would be a great job, but being D2 its a tough job for a few years. Fans and Admin have to be patient and if you see development or success than that's a win.

Re: South Webster - Head Coach

This is why you don't see a lot of young coaches these days. A lot of the older coaches get the "good" jobs so they don't have to develop the kids and the younger coaches are left with terrible jobs with nothing coming up and then their coaching record is not very good which causes them no...

Re: Portsmouth Trojans 22-23 Basketball

Ouch! In that case I hope they go outside. Portsmouth doesn’t really go outside of house much. I just don’t see anyone on the current staff ready to take the position. Len would be more ready than Smith and Dutey. Isn’t Dutey the JR High Coach and it seems like Jhigh and the JV has struggled lately.

Re: Portsmouth Trojans 22-23 Basketball

Why do some of you feel like the very few Portsmouth posters on here have some inside info on the new coach? Trojan Dave is the person who is most in the know of all the posters from Portsmouth. He’s said what he’s said already. I’m sure when he knows more he will post it. This man lives and breath...

Re: Portsmouth Trojans 22-23 Basketball

I had that same question but got nothing. I do thing Jeff wants the job but can't due to what he has going on in Dayton. I don't see any coaches on the current staff that would be a candidate. The admin and fans need to understand that after next year it will be a some long years and being in the OV...

Re: Portsmouth Trojans 22-23 Basketball

Any candidates out there that you would like to see take the job if Lisath doesn’t take it? I don’t seem Jeff applying for the job because of his situation in Dayton. Any local candidates out there? Next year won’t be bad but after that it would be very down years.
