Re: Fort Frye
I think they would be in Girls Basketball and, as I understand it, they will be in the same region next year in football so I hope they are. I actually have not seen them play in football but have read a lot from their fans on the football forum so it sounds as if they should be okay next year. I b...

Re: What happened to Monroe Central's star transfer?
I understood from above that she is out the second half due to transfer. Maybe I misunderstood it.SportsGuy25 wrote: Wed Jan 28, 2026 10:26 am Why wouldn't Islay play? I think it'll be a good game either way. Great match before the district tournament. Feel this game will go down to the wire. Good luck both teams

Re: Fort Frye
Has the FF/WC game for tonight been canceled? I assume it has been and if the cutoff for the OVAC is tonight then the Cadets will host Monroe Central in OVAC first round and then possibly play Shenandoah for a third time.

Re: What happened to Monroe Central's star transfer?
I don't see any games being played tonight so it looks like MC will head to Fort Frye in the first round of the OVAC. Probably an up hill battle with or without Isaly.

Re: Fort Frye
Didn't realize that they just recently started playing. Similarly, I think the football team should schedule Wheelersburg, Harvest Prep and Ironton and the girls basketball team should schedule Fairland, Portsmouth and Parkersburg. I prefer them to play teams that are good as opposed to teams that ...

Re: Fort Frye
Cadets are safely in the OVAC so it shouldn't matter there for FF. Wheeling Central's only hope of getting in was to beat Fort Frye and I don't think that was going to happen anyway. One concern would be that Fort Frye will have quite a few games to make up. I hate to see them play a lot of games in...

Re: Fort Frye
Shake up in the OVAC and in the district. Wheeling Central loses and drops from 1st to 5th. Ouch. FF second to Shenandoah right now so they would host Monroe Central if it started today. Wheeling Central probably has to beat Fort Frye to get into the tournament. In the District, I saw where the inju...

Re: Waterford @ Southern
If the refs are not seeing both schools for the first time this year then the school and the assigner failed. Unfortunately, i believe Southern has had a couple of refs on multiple games for them this year so we will see. With that being said, I would still pick Southern right now on a neutral floor...

Re: Fort Frye
Hiland may be the 4 seed but everyone will be smart to avoid them. It won't surprise me if FF, MC and Shenandoah are all on the opposite side of the bracket.SportsGuy25 wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 2:02 pm East district standing as of 1/23. Top 5

Re: What happened to Monroe Central's star transfer?
That is a huge win for Monroe Central and it muddies the water quite a bit in the OVAC. The standings on their site are behind a little but this win would certainly move them up although Fort Frye should be Linsly tomorrow and that will get them some points. Next week Monroe Central has games agains...

Re: Sheridan (11-3) General Discussion
I did get a chance to see Sheridan play and they continue to be very well coached and play tough defense. They are scrappy and launch a lot of threes. I do think the teams on their schedule are down some this year as well which has helped and also makes their record a little deceiving. John Glenn ha...

Re: Waterford
I watched a little of this game, too, and agree with your take for the most part. I think they had a great first quarter and maybe that was a little fools gold. They looked like they thought they could continue shooting that well. I would estimate that they took 10 threes in the second quarter (they...

Re: Toughest team in southeast Ohio
I think Fairland and Portsmouth are 1a and 1b in whichever way you want to put them. Both are very good and, in my opinion, head and shoulders above the other teams in SEO this year. Last year there seemed to be more of those top level teams but this year we have two top notch teams and then a drop ...

Re: Fairland Girls Basketball 25-26
Next week's game with Portsmouth may decide who gets the top seed and, therefore, picks the region they want to go to. If the Portsmouth vs MND game is played and if Portsmouth wins, then their lead may be insurmountable.

Re: Fort Frye
Good win for Fort Frye. Next week (Thursday specifically) will be big. Shenandoah gets Monroe Central and Fort Frye plays Wheeling Central. I think those games will determine the seeding for the OVAC.

Re: Toughest team in southeast Ohio
I would agree on Fairland for all of the reasons above. I think Logan Elm can be trouble at times but I couldn't pick them in a one game series against Fairland. Same with McClain. I have liked Unioto over the past few years but I did overlook the depth issue this year for them. I would be surprised...
