Good thing this 61% is one of their lowest of the year then. Geez--you should have made this complaint after the Portsmouth game.

Lucky Oak Hill only shot 64% themselves. (9/14)

I have to agree with 1fan1 assessment (someone who obviously actually watched the game.)

>> to let those easy buckets underneath the basket << The term 'easy' was not the way to describe those tonight. If they had been 'easy' the Pirates would have scored 20 more points as they could have pounded the ball inside all night. Know that there were no clean shots in the paint after rebounds ...

^^^^ You weren't watching the game. It was VERY physical under the Pirate basket all night. Most of those misses weren't surprising if you were watching what was happening. Oak Hill brought an aggressive defense. Wheelersburg play more conservative after the early lead and struggled shooting--especi...

I have seen Oak Hill's jv play, and for freshmen and sophmores they were a very strong, well sized team. However, I did notice a couple of their players played several minutes varsity too( this was erly in the year). Are those players still going both ways or have they moved up full time. Actually ...

As I had never commented on the pre-1958 Pirates other than to argue that they could have played the Trojans, I am not sure where that is coming from but I have known about the 1944-46 Pirates all my life. Considering that my entire point, that you originally commented on, was that Wheelersburg and ...

When you compare the Chillicothe scores, remember that Wheelersburg was just two weeks from football and made some major changes to their starting line up after that game. The starting additions added 24 points to last night's tally, not to mention some tough defense. And Wheelersburg's depth did a ...

I have found another game to add to the list of the Wheelersburg-Portsmouth series and it should make Trojandave a little happier since they won. January 4, 1946 Portsmouth defeated Wheelersburg 27-26. And that was one of Wheelersburg's better teams. At one point during that season the Pirates had w...

Yes it was a very nice turnout. Even Brad Walke's mom and sister made it in. There were only something like six people who were not able to attend. Some I recognized immediately and others made me think a little harder. The pictures should be up on the school website by the end of the week--hopefull...

Hitchbone, Wheelersburg made some major changes right after the Chillicothe game and the offense started to gel. Defense has been looking better also. And the bench is coming on nicely now.

Maltese Falcon--the comment was to address Burg grad's assertion that Wheelersburg and Portsmouth could not have met in the tournaments before 1978. My point was that in the late 50's and, looking at the data, early '60's that they were several times just one win away from playing the Trojans in the...

Now all you have to do is get there a little bit EARLIER than planned and sit on the SAME half of the stage that Burggrad 77 sits on.

But the cookies HAVE to be no-bakes!

I will have to pull out a couple articles to review but in the late 50's, Portsmouth was playing at Clay as I recall and playing teams like Northwest and East for sectional titles. It would be interesting to see how the tournament was structured even earlier. Last night I looked up the some other th...

Burg Grad 77= In the late 1950's they were in the same division as there were only two divisions for the county tournament= Schools over 150 and schools under 150. Wheelersburg maded the 150 cut off. Many times in the 50's the Pirates would have played Portsmouth in the tournament if they just could...
