Re: Southern (18-3) Vs. Manchester (13-8) @Convo 3/6

Southern did not play great defense, and some of the key players didn't play very well. Roseberry, Martin, and Drummer played well, but outside of that, not much production. Those three seem to have good energy and some of the others did not. I did hear Taylor went and worked out for Rio Grande base...

Re: Southern (18-3) Vs. Manchester (13-8) @Convo 3/6

Someone earlier had said Southern played a cupcake schedule, and that is why they didn't do well in tournament time, not just this year, and that was what I was referring to. This year Southern won some tough road games (at Belpre easily, at Federal Hocking easily, and close ones at South Gallia and...

Re: Southern (18-3) Vs. Manchester (13-8) @Convo 3/6

Hard to say the schedule had anything to do with last night's game. Southern plays a 16 game league schedule which makes it tough to make it much harder with only 4 non-league. Always play Meigs and River Valley which unfortunately both were down this year. Also played Alexander who has been good in...

Re: Southern (18-3) Vs. Manchester (13-8) @Convo 3/6

Southern wasn't overated, they were the best team in their sectional, and they are probably better than all of the teams in the valley sectional except Manchester and South Webster, with Fairfield and Southern being close. Just a tough loss for the tornadoes.

Re: Zane Trace Vs. Belpre

ssbball, Belpre is towards the lower end of D3 and ZT is towards the higher end, and it sounds like it could be a lot worse than a difference of 46 boys. I would say at least half of the D4 schools that Belpre plays in the TVC Hocking have around or less than 100 boys, so you are always going to hav...

Re: Feb 3 - Southern (11-3, 8-3) @ Fed Hock (7-7, 6-5)

I just saw where FH scored 74 last night. I really believe that Southern could have held them under 30 if their regulars had played the whole game. If Southern continues to play that tough on the defensive end, they will be in great shape the remainder of the year.

Re: Southern home crowd

I agree that the Southern crowd was not real vocal this game, and it has been that way other home games. It seems like other schools are always fired up to play Southern when Southern comes to their place. The SHS crowd was defintely fired up during the Wellston game, but there were many other thing...

Re: Feb 3 - Southern (11-3, 8-3) @ Fed Hock (7-7, 6-5)

I don't think Southern "chose" to play a half court game against Fed Hock, I just remember that both teams really struggled offensively that game. I think that both Coach Caldwells know each other so well that their teams are well preprared to stop what the other does well, like FH control...

Re: Jan 27 - Fed Hock (6-6, 5-4) @ Eastern (4-6, 2-6)

We have to be honest here. Eastern had a huge win against Southern, and Eastern did indeed play harder than Southern in that game as anyone at that game knows. However, Southern also played very poorly down the stretch by continuing to shoot quick shots and fouling with the lead, to enable Eastern t...

Re: Southern @ Wahama Tues, Jan 24

It is not totally shocking that Southern lost at Wahama, because a lot of good teams go to Wahama and lose and Southern didn't play well and lost by 2 in o.t. It seems like Wahama plays with much more confidence on their home floor and is a very hot team right now. It is discouraging that Southern c...

Re: Top 8 div. 4

I think Belpre and Federal Hocking would matchup well with Minford or Piketon.
Of the the teams listed in the top 8, I think any could beat the other.
There is not alot of difference 1 through 8.

Re: 1/6 Southern @ Belpre

It was a very spirited, physical game. Southern was up by 10 at halftime and had an 8 to 12 point lead throughout the second half. Southern was also in foul trouble. The three that fouled out for Belpre was very late in the game. Both crowds were loud and it was an exciting game to watch.
