Re: Next Meigs Football Coach

I believe there are some very good applicants for the job. The latest I have heard is a guy that has coached in Meigs County in the past, has also coached in WV in the past. I am going to leave a name out of this post, only because my source hasn't been the most reliable in the past. If someone else...

I hope the Marauders have a good season, just to shut up the guy who started this thread. No reason to dog the guy, give him a chance. Fonzie, let's just start hijacking his threads asking people's opinions on him. I don't want to lower myself to his antics. Not worth the time and effort involved.

Re: Meigs Head Baseball Coach Search

Well, Coach Dodson took on the job and was apparently the most qualified to coach. If people have a problem with his choices, maybe they should have coached themselves. Andrew is a pretty good ballplayer anyway. He will definitely be needed to pitch at the varsity level. With the pitch count rule b...

Re: Meigs Head Baseball Coach Search

Probably drew Dodson since his daddy’s the coach Should we start naming all the kids (both boys/girls) that played any Varsity sports in high school while their father was the head coach ? I believe you would find quite a long list just in Southeast Ohio over the decades let alone outside the regio...

You might be right. I have't seen that group since they were in 7th and 8th grade.

Re: 2019 Gallia Academy Blue Devils Outlook

Is the Vanco kid who was QB when that group was in JR high? If so, has he improved his footwork? I thought he was a bit sluggish and lacked speed. I do think he had a decent arm. But definitely not a threat running the ball. If he is indeed the starter, he will need his line to step up and allow him...

Re: Meigs Head Baseball Coach Search

Don't you love when people will hide behind a computer screen and mouth a guy. I would suggest not typing anything you wouldn't say to his face. Not sure what you have against Britt, but I doubt any of us care. Wish him luck and move on.

Re: Next Meigs Football Coach

The issue with finding officials is very similar to the reduced number of coaches, or should I say "good coaches". Why would a great individual put their neck out there, knowing good and well that there will be a fraction of parents that will never be happy with you. In today's day in age,...

Next Meigs Football Coach

Any ideas who will be the next to lead the Marauders on the gridiron?

The only thing I have heard is they will be taking applications to fill the position. For the sake of building a program, I hope they get someone that will put in the time, and hopefully stay for a while.

From my understanding, he resigned. He is still teaching at Meigs as far as I know.

Re: Newt Oliver Classic at Rio this weekend ...

To some extent, I believe Coach French has forgot the identity of the school. He attempts to manage his team as if it were a D1 school. That is an admirable goal, but unfortunately, Rio will never be at the level. Stop recruiting kids that don't fit a system that would work in your conference. He do...

Re: Newt Oliver Classic at Rio this weekend ...

Things are def different under French. I actually played JV years ago at Rio when Thomas was still the head coach and French was an assistant. I played for current Jackson principal Thad Haines. We practiced every day and had a full schedule of games. We even ran scout team for the Varsity. When Th...

Re: Newt Oliver Classic at Rio this weekend ...

That’s pretty bad. If that was at the high school level or even other colleges, parents would be wanting him out. However, keep in mind that the AD, Lanham, was also an assistant with French under Coach Thomas. The chances of him leading a push to get French out is slim to none. I am in no way call...

Re: Newt Oliver Classic at Rio this weekend ...

I did a little digging. Had to do some math because the University's website does not list his record over his tenure there. It does mention how well they did while he was an assistant for Earl Thomas. Ken French is in his 14th season as head coach. Overall record of 162-244 39.9% win percentage 4 ...
