Re: OHSAA Playoffs Expanding in 2021

Would not be surprised to see the number of private schools in the final 4 of each division go up. At 8 teams, some of the big privates who play a mostly private school schedule would occasionally end at school 9 or below and out. Ending 13 or below will happen much less often. Agree more privates ...

Re: OHSAA Playoffs Expanding in 2021

More watering down. It's all about $$$ and now half the schools in the state will be able to proclaim they were playoff worthy yearly. Every Johnnie gets a playoff patch and that leaves us with more playoff blowouts than ever. Mediocrity is becoming the new normal for earning accomplishments in soci...

Re: Drive In Theaters

As mentioned above the Skyview just east of downtown Lancaster on Rt. 22 (Main street) is still operating along with the South drive-in on Rt. 23 (South high street) in Columbus just north of Scioto Downs Casino.

Eich graduated in 72 and was a beast. (A year after Howie Caldwell , the current Trimble coach. Eastern had some good basketball teams back then with the Boring's, Holter's, Karr's etc .)

Re: Best College Basketball Player of All Time

The late 60's and early 70's was the era of the "Gunners". Not only did you have Pete Maravich, you had Calvin Murphy of Niagara, Bo Lamar of SW Louisiana, Johnny Neumann of Ole Miss, Rick Mount of Purdue, Dan Issel of Kentucky and others. An interesting name of the past was Travis "Machine Gun" Gr...

Re: Best College Basketball Player of All Time

Gotta go with Lew Alcindor (Most dominant & game changing ) and Pistol Pete (passing & scoring) also. Remember, the dunk was outlawed for 10 years in college (67-76) primarily because of Alcindor and what he could do, so that's when he developed and perfected his patented sky hook ........ and Marav...

Re: OHSAA Tourney and COVID-19

I take it this goes into effect immediately and tonight's games at the convocation Center will be family members only. I guess it don't affect harvest prep any as the only fans that watch them play are family members. You seem bothered by this! This is a ploy by Harvest Prep. They just wanted to ev...

Re: Berlin Hiland vs Peebles

Does the Peebles area have a local station that streams or covers their games ? I found the Hiland station (WKLM 95.3 FM) but would rather listen to a SEO station if I had my druthers.

Re: Biggest Upsets in Convo History

An old school hs upset at the Convo would have been Waverly over Columbus Walnut Ridge in the 1970 AA Regionals. Ridge featured two players who went on to solid careers at UNC, Ed Stahl and Brad Hoffman. Hawhee's Tigers were led by the guard tandem of Denny Thompson and Phil Miller. If my memory is...

Re: Amazing Statistic About SE District Final 4 Wins

The Portsmouth Trojans have 12 wins in the Final 4, with the most recent coming in the 2012 D3 state semifinals, that being a 74-66 win over Ottawa-Glandorf. That was the last Final 4 win by a SE district school. Since then, 4 schools, Ironton (2013), Warren (2013), Lynchburg Clay (2016), and Fairl...

Re: Berlin Hiland vs Peebles

Has anyone seen a Berlin roster? If so, could you post it? Thanks All I've seen is the players listed in east district awards. Sam Habeger,6'2" senior Korrie Hosteller,6'8" senior Hunter Sommers Will Schlabach. #12,21,32,45 all good. I believe #52 plays alot. I'm sure they are defensive minded and ...

Didn’t touch him. The foul was actually a blocking call not on the arm. I thought it was pretty obvious not on the arm. The ref called the leg kick

Howie can coach with the best of them and Trimble has athletes but the Bobcats win this hardwood battle of small schools by 12 with their size and defensive ability.

Re: Biggest Upsets in Convo History

Portsmouth ended up on the wrong end of the 1984 Class AA district championship vs. Wheelersburg. WHS came into the game 0-2 vs. the Trojans in tournament play, having lost in the 1978 sectionals and the 1983 district championship. PHS came into the 1984 game with a 20-3 record, and a 7-0 record vs...

3/11, 6:15 D3 Reg. Semi, Harvest Prep vs Zane Trace

Harvest Prep just won 49-47 over Worthington Christian (was tied @ 47 with .07 seconds left and CJ Anthony did a pro "flop" on a 3 pointer and made 2 of 3 ft's to win it. No way, shape or form was he fouled but it was called. Tough loss for WC as they led the whole game.)
