Re: Waverly holiday classic (Who you picking?)

I agree Eastern isn’t getting much talk about their chances of winning. But on paper, Piketon and Waverly are clearly the better teams. If we want to be honest Waverly should win the Classic every year. They are the biggest school in the county, as well as have the most resources AND they play on th...

Re: Waverly holiday classic (Who you picking?)

I have not seen the teams in the Pike Co. Classic but on paper I have to believe Piketon is the favorite. With the Perdue kid I think Piketon will not struggle with Waverly’s pressure. Waverly’s Press is designed to cause turnovers which leads to points. If Piketon doesn’t turn it over I think Waver...

Re: Chesapeake Coach

Davis has got more out of the Chesapeake kids than any other coach in the school’s history. A Final Four appearance which is something “NO” other Chesapeake coach has EVER done. That is a FACT .... not my opinion. Unfortunately Chesapeake Community has changed. Maybe it is time for Coach Davis to mo...

Re: Wheelersburg Vs. Waverly 12-19-17

I don’t think it will be difficult for Portsmouth to fill their basketball schedule. Losing the Wheelersburg basketball game from their schedule will not be an issue (or should not be an issue). I’m not a Portsmouth fan but the fact is Portsmouth doesn’t need any local school on their schedule. Thei...

Re: New Boston Glenwood Tigers

Is this suspension from the OHSAA? If so then they found some form of recruiting involved. So the claim that there is “a lot of misinformation” was a little premature in this case.

Re: Western @ Eastern 12/15

Thanks for the information. I thought both those guys graduated so I was just figuring they would be down on the offensive end of the floor. I might try to catch the Pike Co. Classic. Who do they play first?

Re: Chesapeake Coach

Davis is a great basketball coach. He is hard-nosed and makes his players accountable. Teaching the game and developing young man are what make a great coach. There are no kids walking the halls at Chesapeake right now that can play or they would be playing. Playing high school sports take more than...

Re: Unbeaten Piketon vs Unioto on 12/15/17

Perdue is talented. I saw him last year playing for Western. A lot will depend on how the game is officiated. Physical game advantage to the “U”. I will take Unioto in a instant Classic.

I’ll take Eastern in a close one. Western is not as talented as they have been but I’m not sure Eastern is either. Didn’t both Leist and Martin graduate last year?

Re: New Boston Glenwood Tigers

“One of the best coaches in the area” ..... Wow!! That is a heck of a statement. I think we better wait for a couple years and see what happens before we throw that claim out there. Only person that would make that claim after 4 games is a family member or somebody directly connected to the coach. Y...

Re: Wheelersburg Pirates 2017-18 Season

Time will tell if Wheelersburg is the second best team in the league. (I think Oak Hill is clearly the best by far)

But without question Wheelersburg is the 2nd most talented team in the SOC II.

I’m definitely impressed with Miller’s win and Coal Grove’s win. (More so Miller’s win) I kind of expected Coal Grove to win.

I’ll have to wait and see how Portsmouth developes. Their first 3 games were a little light to begin with.

Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio Week #2

I was disappointed that Portsmouth did not accept the challenge of playing up in competition in the Buckeye Elite National Showcase. I thought they might have wanted to play a Northridge or Africentric. I was surprised they choose to play West in a Saturday afternoon game instead of playing in the S...

Re: East vs New Boston?

This should be a very good game. The point guard (Flannery) for East is very good with the ball. If he is able to create it will free up Shoppe for open perimeter shots which is the best part of his game. The athletic red-headed forward is the X-factor for East. He will have to play well. Is the McQ...

Re: Wheelersburg Pirates 2017-18 Season

Tanner Holden is a basketball player by nature. He has worked his whole life on being a basketball. Hopefully he doesn’t get sidetracked and follows his dream.

“Interest” and “Offers” are two totally different things. He has interest from football programs. He has offers from basketball programs.

Re: Wheelersburg's Tanner Holden

As I said the Holden kid is a basketball player playing football. This football conversation wouldn’t have been held without the observation of one person. His ceiling as a basketball player is very high. Most local fans, coaches and players would like to see him develop his talents at a high level....

Re: 2017-18 Season ... Who are the top teams in each league ?

Unfortunately ..... parenting in today’s society is about the “Me and Right Now”! Parents only want what is best for the kids “Right Now” with no regards for the future and the life lessons they are teaching their kids. “Good Parenting” is teaching their kids loyalty, commitment and dedication even ...

Re: Wheelersburg's Tanner Holden

Holden will be more of an impact player as a basketball player than football player. As I said he is a basketball player playing football. If one person had not called her husband and said this kid is pretty good. This topic would not even be discussed. I hope the best for him. I’m sure his father w...
