Re: Ironton at Wheelersburg, 2020
I look forward to seeing how both programs come out in 2020. I think this is always a great test in week 1. How much did Ironton lose? How much has Burg regained? This usually sets a great tone for the winners season. However, it usually makes the loser hungrier and helps focus them on a great seaso...

Re: Lane Ruby & Payton Shoemaker - Teammates
IWU is a great university. Top tier athletic program and one of if not the top private school in midwest. New football program is only a couple years old. It has been great watching Ruby run track and I expect he could do that at IWU. This is a great “get” for the Wildcats. good luck to both kids

Re: Ironton 2020
I’m not sure why we have to trash kids/prospects from our area but let’s see if we can get back to Ironton 2020 football. What about the schedule? Conference obviously stays same. Will non conference schedule stay the same? Would you like to see something different? At Wheelersburg is a good test fo...

Re: Ironton 2020
What does any past Wheelersburg player have to do with Ironton? lets get back to talking about ironton 2020. Ill start, will there be anyone in the stands after halftime on the home side of game 1? Probably not. Burg fans tend not to come to games they know they can win. I was wondering what happen...

really respect the job that Coach Collins has done at PHS. He’s a great guy! He’s done this in an era where Portsmouth has gone through very tough social and economic times.
Well done Coach

Re: Ironton @ Wheelersburg 1/11
:D A little surprised at the lack of comments about this game. I know everyone was not at the Beasts of the Southeast. Was it just a back and forth game, a great defensive game or what ? It's very rare that any team can hold the Burg to 47 pts, especially on there home floor. I’ll comment on it. Bur...
Re: Burg 2020
Ashland won’t be as good as they were but with Pittman will still be formidable. Of course, after that home cooking job at Burg this year, the Tomcats will be ready with a pretty good “crew” of their own. Ironton wasn’t getting out of Putnam Stadium with a win in 2019 and it will be very difficult f...

Re: Interesting Ancient History Regarding Ironton and Portsmouth Football
I wonder how many rosters may have been depleted by “kids” going off to the war? Robert Christian, who the Ironton senior athlete award goes to, left for the Pacific after his junior year. You could do that with permission from your family. Mr Christian was killed in battle before his high school cl...

Re: 1960 Ironton Tigers
in 1960-61 the sports in the tri state was unreal. I believe Ironton’s basketball team went like 16-4. Losing to Ashland and Portsmouth. Both Ashland and Portsmouth won state titles in ky and ohio that year. Also, Huntington High won the wva title that year. I believe Huntington Douglas was still op...

Re: State Tournament News and Notes
LucasDavenport: I would like to see Massillon win the state title. Perhaps no other town in Ohio has as much passion for football as does Massillon. I have been to Paul Brown Tiger Stadium to watch the state championships, and that stadium is probably the mecca for Ohio high school football. Can yo...

Re: Week 13 - Ironton (11-1) vs Ridgewood (12-0)
Logan or Nelsonville would be worst case scenarios for Ironton. However, for a programthat has not been to
regional
final in nearly 10
years and was down to basically 30
varsity football players 24 months ago, beggars can’t be choosers. it’s the ohsaa invitational
And you go where they tell ya to go.

Re: Week 13 - Ironton (11-1) vs Ridgewood (12-0)
bottom line on location: if you want to favor 1 seed the game is in chillicothe if you want to favor the 2 seed you put the game in Lancaster. it is basically the same scenario either way. Lancaster is 75 minutes for Ridgewood and about 110 minutes for Ironton the other scenario is basically the rev...
