This is yet another game in which the absence of Anthony Williams, 6-6 junior, will hurt the Trojans. Against the good teams on our schedule, we need all the bullets in the gun to have the best chance to win. Anthony's 19 ppg and 15 rpg have been sorely missed, even though the Trojans have won sever...

Scioto County has 11 high schools, and that is too many for a county with a population of about 77,000. People complain about lack of funding for education but are stubborn to move on the issue of consolidation. I am not a economic guru by any means, but I would think that fewer schools would be mor...

I have talked several times with Coach Shoemaker and AD Tom Grashel about getting Ashland back on the schedule.....I always liked playing the Tomcats, a very old and competitive rivalry. I also would like to see Greenup Co. back on the slate; the 2 schools are just across the river from each other.....

One of the greatest qualities about Coach Joe Suboticki was his ability to motivate his kids to play hard.....under his tenure, the Trojans seldom came out flat, and always seemed to play with a chip on their shoulder. They consistently would play tough defense, and Suboticki's press created many of...

It would be a very good game; of course I would pick the Trojans to win.....by about 10 points. Dominic McKinley would most likely be guarding Seth Dawes rather than Chambers.....David Barnes would be assigned Chambers, and would give Ray all he could handle.....the 6-5 Barnes went against quite a f...

Post game meal: Casa del Taco......always a great stop. If my friend from Columbus comes to the game, and he is supposed to, we have already planned to stop here, no matter what happens in the game. Just a final comment on the game..........regardless of how the game turns out, I think CHS fans and ...

Chillicothe plays a very demanding non-conference schedule. They cannot control the strength of the SEOAL, and they have to play everybody, which accounts for 14 games. Sometimes I think people get too caught up in divisions.....one year that North College Hill won the D3 state title with Mayo and W...

I think one BIG edge to the Cavaliers is EXPERIENCE. Chillicothe is playing with 4 starters returning, while Portsmouth only has Nate Cadogen returning from the starting 5 last season. I know Caleb Knights was on varsity as a freshmen, and I thought Stuart Beverly saw action as a sophomore. I'm not ...

Tobias: The overall series stands at 40-34 in favor of Portsmouth....but the Cavaliers have won the last 7. Don't know the Trojans' record at CHS, though. This 75th meeting will push Chillicothe into second place all time on Portsmouth's opponents list....the Trojans have only played Ironton more ti...

Portsmouth the last couple of weeks is not the same Portsmouth that started the season. The Trojans are playing much better basketball now than they were against Ironton, Northwest, and Chesapeake. Those teams deserved to win on those nights, but PHS is a different team now. For one thing, Nate Cado...

Portsmouth's administration voted UNANIMOUSLY to join the SEOAL knowing of the travel involved and that we were going to be the smallest school in the league. So far, with the expanded SEOAL starting last year, we have done well in football and baseball(won the South Divisions in both sports even th...

Congratulations to the Pointers on the win and staying undefeated. I will take up for our kids and say that the officiating was below average, and I am not talking just about foul calls.....with that said, I felt that the Trojans lost the game in the 3rd quarter, scoring only 4 points. South Point t...

I don't make predictions on games, but I will say that Portsmouth is coming off its best performance of the season BY FAR in winning 92-60 at Jackson. Even without leading scorer and rebounder Anthony Williams, the kids have nicely picked up the slack and have responded with 2 convincing wins this p...

Isn't Zanesville a good sized team also?........Aronhalt at 6-4, Prati at 6-5, and Andre Harris at 6-5. Reynoldsburg might have been a little bigger, but not much. The Blue Devils are a taller team than they were a year ago. Question for Blue Devils supporters: Do you think ZHS is better than they w...

I sure hope my Trojans can turn things around before we drop completely off Pfloyd's list. This season started out with a ......and I certainly don't want it to turn into a . We just have to realize that it's going to take time for Coach Shoemaker to turn us around. Portsmouth is not a microwave pro...

McClain also lost to Cambridge 52-48 in the Regional Finals in 2000, I believe. The Tigers beat my Trojans 58-54 in the District Finals and then went on to lose another close regional final. Despite not making it to the state, Rick Van Matre is still the #1 coach in SE Ohio. Does more with less than...

I sure hope that the kid can make a full recovery.....Gallia Academy has been hit as hard by injuries as any school.....Golden in football, and now Jones in basketball.....in both cases, they were season ending injuries to kids who were a vital part of each program. In fact, Golden would have been t...
