Re: OHSAA RULES

Not unless that same source would pay "regular" students tuition as well.

You can give an athlete "gifts" based on their athletic ability. You have to treat athletes the same way you treat non-athletes, and athletes can't accept anything not offered to non-athletes.

Re: Should Private Schools be put in there own Divisions

GAHS, the concentration of athletes is the point I was trying to make with American legion baseball (and any sport for that matter). The maximum number you can choose a team from is 5,000. In smaller areas of the state the number in all schools combined may be well below 1,000. Some Legion posts ac...

Re: Should Private Schools be put in there own Divisions

I shouldn't have used the term recruit...That seems to be a sticky term no matter what kind of school you attend...But don't private schools have the ability to offer scholarships to athletes to help bring them to their schools. Because if that is the case what parent wouldn't want to give their ch...

That's pure speculation.

"Recruiting" is rampant in public schools.

"recruiting" is an easy excuse for fans to make themselves feel better. In reality, it goes on no more at private schools than it does public.

Re: Should Private Schools be put in there own Divisions

I say, with 100% confidence, ABSOLUTELY NOT. It would cheapen a championship and punish the private schools who "play by the rules," which many of them do. Let me make a few rebuttals to some of you: To me it doesn't seem fair to public schools who can't recruit to play private schools who...

Re: Warren High School All-Time Records and Results

310 for a game is a lot.

Frye had just under 3000 for his 2 year career I believe, literally over 2990 without going to look.

Re: Warren High School All-Time Records and Results

Great work so far Swami. It's a tough job, but I'm glad someone is taking it on. You can learn a lot by going through all those old resources. I'd be glad to help anyway I can with Warren's SEOAL era. I have all those game scores somewhere on my computer. I'll print your list out and see what I can ...

Re: SEOAL Teams All-Time Win-Loss

My records for Logan go back to 1912, but they were playing football before then. I have a team picture from 1907 for one thing. I believe the first "team" was in 1898. During the first homecoming game in the '30s, there was a sign in sheet for former players and two men signed in saying t...

Good Luck to the Ironmen.

Nothing against Portsmouth, but we need all the points we can get and the Trojans aren't on our schedule.

D1 talent is few and far between almost everywhere., but especially in SE Ohio.

It does take GREAT high school players. It takes GREAT high school players with exceptional size and speed.

Re: best pass game in the seaol?

pride - Logan has thrown the ball pretty well so far. Ironton has a great quarterback, and of course Marietta has probably had the best consistent passing game the last 4-5 years. Unfortunately, they have been very 1 dimensional keeping them from winning a lot of football games. Chillicothe has a to...

I appreciate the fact that you even missed it.

I had fun with it, but with two websites, writing for the paper, and a full time job I was just spread too thin last fall.

Re: SEOAL Podcast

I know you were a loyal fan and listener last season. While I enjoyed putting the pod cast together and I had some great people to work with, I just had to devote way too much time into putting the project together. Not enough time in a week for one man to do it by himself.

Warren 21 at Marietta 26 Final

Let's restart this. Let's keep the identifying of posters and personal attacks out of it this time.

This is a warning. I have a feeling both coaching staffs wouldn't want their kids on here acting like this.

Good Luck to both teams, let's act and play with class.
