Valley scored 1 in top of 1st, while Unioto answered with 2 in 2nd and 2 in 3rd. Valley managed to add runs in the 4th, 6th and 8th (I think - was in the truck trying to unthaw)
It was windy and cold but it was good to take in some baseball.

Re: SOC 2 2023
Who left west? Don’t they still have some of the core guys from last years team? Fike, Tipton, and Sayre? Those names are still there. I’m assuming he is referring to the group that Went to ND in junior high. Yep, 2 that went to Waverly, 2 that went to Valley, and a few that went to ND. They never ...

Re: SOC 2 2023
Siderblood, you are correct. The Knittels and Howard are a great coaching staff and would be the injection West needs to build that program. It was unfortunate for Goodwin that he lost several players that are juniors, sophomores, and freshmen this year. I don't think he ever had a chance to field a...

Re: 2023 Spring Baseball Talk
Who's coaching Minford this year? SOC II will be Rock Solid this year. Almost all pitching returns from last season. Wheelersburg's Thomas being the only exception. If my recollection is correct, Wheelersburg loses Thomas and McKenzie Minford loses Coriell and Lewis Valley loses Morrow and Jones Wa...

Re: SOC 2 2023
SOC 2, I'd imagine will look a lot like last season. Most of the players were sophomores and juniors with a few seniors sprinkled in. Wheelersburg won it last year and will be again expected to contend. Minford and Valley, with the pitching they possess will be expecting to win the league, too. Not ...

Re: SOC (Basketball) going to 3 (6 team) divisions (2023-24)
That's basically what I meant. Notre Dame, being a private school, can compete with larger schools in certain sports. I should have specified in football, enrollment matters a lot when talking about public schools. It is why Green, Eastern, East, etc don't schedule West, Waverly, Wheelersburg, etc. ...

Re: SOC (Basketball) going to 3 (6 team) divisions (2023-24)
Enrollment figures do NOT matter when it's a private school. However, when public schools are involved, it matters greatly.

Re: SOC (Basketball) going to 3 (6 team) divisions (2023-24)
SOC tweeted that "As in the past with two divisions, each division is based on school size." However, like in the past, that is not true. Valley and South Webster are considerably smaller than other schools in their division. Northwest and Oak Hill will be much larger than schools in the m...

Re: Region 24: #15 Valley @ #2 Allen East
Pretty sure basketball and baseball allow every team to play in the state tournament. At least there is a cut-off in football. Valley is a dangerous 3-7 team, especially if the effort is like it has been the last 3 weeks. I think the way they've played lately shows you the makeup and character of th...

Re: Valley 7 - 60 Waverly 2022
I was told Valley makes way more on ticket sales being in SOC 2 and that's one of the main reasons they won't leave. Can't say how true that is, just something I was told. That statement is ludicrous. Valley plays AT Wheelersburg and AT West this year. Not sure how they make money there. Plus, as s...

Re: Valley 7 - 60 Waverly 2022
Since moving to SOC2 in 2006, Valley is 37-39 in conference play. Breaking it down further, the first 10 seasons in SOC2, Valley is 32-17. That means the last 6 seasons (not counting this one), Valley is 5-22 in conference play. That also corresponds with overall records: (2006-2015) 85-29 and (2016...

Re: WK5 VALLEY VS NORTHWEST
NW97, I think your right about enrollment size. SOC 1 makes sense. However, the other small schools probably wouldn't allow it. In other sports, playing the small schools doesn't provide the competition that SOC2 provides night in and night out. However, if I'm not mistaken Valley is in small school...

Re: WK5 VALLEY VS NORTHWEST
NW97, couple of things- Valley although a small school has played in the SOC2 since 2006. In 2005 Valley won the SOC 1 (11-2, 5-0) and played Northwest, Minford, Wheelersburg and Waverly as part of their non-conference. I don't think "gate money" is why they stay. As far as athletes going ...

A AA, AAA classifications
Need some help understanding- I thought OHSAA classified according to enrollment. However when I read the 2022-23 enrollment figures I got confused. Belpre with 122 boys - AA Valley with 122 boys - AA (there are several others) Berkshire with 123 boys - A Carrington Lincoln - 126 - A What am I missi...
