Re: WK 2: Wheelersburg @ Columbus Bishop Hartley
Pirates have the best basketball player on the field but we're playing football. Hartley DBs will have no problem with speed but they're handsie (like always), will have their backs turned to the ball, and have zero ball awareness which sounds like saying the same thing twice until you've seen it.

Re: WK 2: Wheelersburg @ Columbus Bishop Hartley
How does Burg 2018 compare to the 2015 that took Hartley to overtime? Hawks look to be roughly on par with the team from that year. Looking forward to a good, physical game. Nothing but respect for what Coach Woodward has done to bring the program back to its former glory.

Re: Should Your School Be allowed to Recruit?????
I wouldn't say that "renting" apartments is dead now. Football and basketball players families still do it. Renting for just the four years of high school is mostly gone. Most are now permanent move-ins who got here young. Property values went to crap in 2007, so there are a lot of afford...

Re: Should Your School Be allowed to Recruit?????
I can remember several years ago people were saying with the strong industry in the Pickerington area they were offering or wanting parents from other schools where their son was playing to look into them getting work in the Pickerington area so their kid could play at Pickerington. This was actual...

Re: Should Your School Be allowed to Recruit?????
Proving that a school or program "recruited" a player is impossible without a paper trail. Concerned citizens provided some photos and a video that got the Hoban coach busted. St Hilary and some middle school in Kent, Ohio is what earned him a two game suspension and a very brutal trainin...

In most places where people b1tch too much already they could first hold an auction to make the coach leave.

Re: Teams That Will Shock People In 2018
Player talent is one of the ingredients for football success, but, at the high school level, coaching is more critical. That talent in the building did not differ significantly between 2005 (lost in second round of playoffs), 2008 (lost in first round of playoffs), and 2010 (won state championship)....

Re: Teams That Will Shock People In 2018
You make it sound like Hartley only has a few d2 guys and an occasional d1 guy lol. Come on man. Do you have a list of names that proves otherwise, or just long boiling rage that they've won a few state titles? 2012 team had more talent than any other class at Hartley, but that was an exception. Th...

Re: Teams That Will Shock People In 2018
Hartleys gonna end up in Division l if they keep up the recruiting. They will always be good they get most of the better athletes in their area I don't think so. https://247sports.com/Season/2018-Football/RecruitRankings?State=OH You might notice the word "Pickerington" in here a lot. It'...

Re: Teams That Will Shock People In 2018
Hartley will up their work with the voucher program to bring in some top flight athletics to help them up their level of play. Voucher enrollment at Hartley has plummeted. Wasn't a financially sustainable model so long as costs kept increasing at a rate much higher than the legislature was willing ...

Re: Teams That Will Shock People In 2018
Why would a private school in Hartley that can attract athletes to their school be a shock? They should be good. They lost to Tri-Valley - a public school that works hard enough to compete with the privates. There is a whole page dedicated to recruiting on their athletic website for crying out loud...

Great game and what a way to finish, Burg. Eastwood quality surprised me. Other than Kenton, they're usually paper tigers from them parts when they're not MAC.

Re: Canton for the State finals
It's a shame that Capital, Otterbein, and Ohio Dominican don't seat enough. I'd much rather give my $ to see a game to a small school like those. The finals crowds would fit into the stadiums at Upper Arlington or Grove City just fine, except for maybe D-I. Just put them all in neutral locations an...

Re: Absence of private schools in finals
For the finals, I'm of the opinion that it did make some difference in participants and winners. D-I - no impact. The privates had a down year overall. Winton Woods would be D-II champs against anybody but Hoban. Remarkably, I think Hoban would likely have lost to Trotwood-Madison (who I think is th...

Re: D5 State Championship: Wheelersburg vs Pemberville Eastwood
Eastwood has some good history sap in the playoffs. Haven’t gotten past reg finals going back some but have played Hartley and coldwater so they have some experience. Yeah. I know. But they're one of those Central Blanchard Bay Conference or whatever teams that puts 50-80 points on regular season p...
