Re: Week 4 (1-2) Ashland KY @ (2-1) Ironton
For what it's worth, here are the results through 2004 (I'd consider this to be unofficial). If anyone wants to bring this forward to the present, Joe Eitel http://www.joeeitel.com/hsfoot/ has archives back to 2000 Ironton leads series 39-28-3 Years Winner Score 1919 Ashland (A) 28 3 1920 Ironton (H...

Re: Russell, KY 29 Ashland, KY 27
I think that's true. And now a lot of Ironton fans are thinking a Fighting Tiger win over Ashland is a given. The Tomcats are way better than their record indicates.zebra77 wrote:Tomcats over looked those Red Devils in anticipation of next weeks match up wiff dem' TIGERS!!!!!!

I don't think I have ever predicted Ironton to lose, and I won't now.
However, regardless of how good this Burg team is, vs. last year, Ironton will need to be VASTLY improved in order to get a win.

Re: Pre Season Top 10
Based upon what my illustrious sources have told me, Ironton should be good for a winning season and a return to the playoffs. I hope I'm wrong, but if there is a major stumbling block this season, it will be the coaching.

Re: WEEK 1 IRONTON @WHEELERSBURG-AUG 29
Tigertown.com (the official Ironton City Schools web site) has alumni info for each graduating class. I don't know where they got it, but I think it should be fairly accurate. I haven't checked every class to see which were the biggest, but I know 1968 was at least 206 and there were bigger ones tha...

Re: WEEK 1 IRONTON @WHEELERSBURG-AUG 29
Regarding Ironton's enrollment, I think it has been noted elsewhere on SEOP that Ironton is now graduating about ONE THIRD as many students as was the case when Bob Lutz started as head coach back in the early 70s. Does that make a difference? I say yes.

Re: Ironton Turf project has started
still think tiger eye like LSU would be better then tiger head. Or maybe a paw print. I don't particularly object to having a tiger head, but I don't like that tiger head. I've been told it will look better on the field than it does in the artist's rendering. I hope so. I posted this a while back.....

Re: BESIDES TURF, WHAT'S NEXT FOR THE IRONTON FIGHTING TIGER
I have a brochure / contribution form for the turf - conley center - sports endowment funds. The tiger head depicted on that is, in my opinion, a poor choice. But I guess it's an official image since it also appears on the home page of Tigertown.com (near the top).

Re: Your schools first football game
From what I have seen on the internet in years past.... Ironton's first game was in 1902. The first several seasons consisted of no more than 2 games each. 9 of the first 10 games were vs. Portsmouth. Ironton's first "real" season appears to be 1909, when the team under coach J. Boyd Davis...

I think it can be argued that some of Ironton's other teams since 2003 could beat Ironton's 2003 team.

Re: 7-1 Oak Hill @ 2-6 Ironton
Not sure of the math, but realistically speaking Ironton must win this game to have any chance of playing in week 11. Fighting Tiger trivia. . . . Ironton must win at least one more game to avoid suffering the fewest wins in a season since, I think, 1968 (1 - 7 - 2). I could be wrong, but I also thi...
