Re: No football preview from the Athens Messenger
I have a friend who has been a sports writer for the Zanesville Times Recorder for awhile. He claims free internet access to several of these papers has hurt them the most. I know right now you can access the Marietta TImes for free but was told that is going to change. We are a nation of convenienc...

Re: 2012 Logan Chieftains - A look ahead
Not to bust any bubbles but Sheridan played almost all sophomores last night. They only play five seniors and the best of which (OU bound lineman Tate Leavitt) didn't dress due to a sprained ankle. At one point in the first quarter the D Sheridan had on the field was two seniors, one junior and 8 so...

Re: Top players in the PVC
My brother coaches Wiechman. Kid is a player. He has a lot less with him then Lang did with him. Lang is a very nice player and probably the best defender in your league (and yes, I have seen all of these teams play) but Wiechman is way beyond him offensively. Both are very good ball players. As for...

Jonathon Wiechman from Caldwell. Plays for my brother and keeps getting better. Believe he averaged around 18 a game as a sophomore last season.

Re: Chillicothe Coach Gary Kellough Steps Down
Very well said, there is a lot more that goes in to coaching then people realize. Be it time, taking kids home from practices, making sure everyone has the chance to be successful and countless other things, 99.9% of the time coaches are there for the right reasons. As for the new hire.....Meister i...

Re: Chillicothe Coach Gary Kellough Steps Down
Have watched all of these coaches several times. I would put Miester up there at the front. He does an excellent job. Took NC to the final 4 and his final year there took a team of sophomores to a 17 or 18 win season. However, didn't he just leave a loaded Catholic team to go back home and coach @ C...

Re: Caldwell Redskins Varsity Boys Shoot Out
Witness....your coach is my brother and he isn't going anywhere. He was contacted about a pretty high profile job but he likes where he is and what is going on. I don't see him leaving there anytime soon with the security of his teaching position and the direction of his program. I will get a pretty...

What does Shenandoah have coming back? A friend of my brother (Caldwell coach) and I just applied for a teaching job and the football coaching job. He is a Sheridan guy and would do a great job.

Re: Caldwell(7-13) vs Beallsville (18-2) 2-22 @ UL
Made the trip to Belmont to watch my brothers redskins play tonight and am really glad I did. Back and forth first half had Caldwell up 28-26 despite not playing particularly well. Played a terrific third quarter and led by ten heading in to the fourth. Beallsville started running three guys at the ...

Re: D4 Eastern District Selection Sunday
Met my brother to eat after the draw.....some interesting decisions over at U.L. today. 1 seed went to Rosecrans and they went to the bottom of the bracket. They open with 9 seed St. Johns. The other two teams in the bottom side are frontier as the 8 seed and....wait for it....Barnesville who chose ...

Re: DIV Eastern District @ Union Local
Looks to be 3 quality teams (Rosecrans, River, Beallsville) and two dangerous teams (Barnesville, Caldwell) in this sectional. I know my brothers boys at Caldwell have started playing better as of late, hopefully they are playing quality ball come tournament time and can win enough games to stay on ...

Re: Pioneer Valley Conf Updates
Kinda surprised by the Trail/Meadowbrook score, thought it would be a 30 point game. PVC is balanced this year, all of it's teams can compete.

Re: River (2-1) @ Caldwell (1-4) Dec 16
Talked to the brother after the game, he said River has a nice team, three good guards and two solid bigs. He said his team didn't compete or execute and that he was embarrassed by their effort or lack of it.

Re: River (2-1) @ Caldwell (1-4) Dec 16
I watched the game film with coach, witness is right, Beallsville is very good. They are as good or better then any MVL team I have seen this year. As for Caldwell being inconsistant, the way I take it the only game they didn't play well in was Barnesville, and it appeared they still should have won...

Re: Pioneer Valley Conf As Of Dec 14
Not sold, they are similar to everyone 2-5 range. They held on to beat Barnesville at home even though the 'Rocks sat their best player the first quarter. Had to come back to beat an awful Shadyside team at home by five. They went on the road and beat winless central even though they were tied throu...

Re: Buckeye Trail (2-1) @ Caldwell (1-2) Dec 13
I think by toughest part it simply means the vast number of games against quality opponents in a short period of time. They opened with Central then they jumped in and played Beallsville/Barnesville/Trail in a five day stretch. They play River Friday, get an easy one @ Bellaire St. Johns Central on ...

Re: River (2-1) @ Caldwell (1-4) Dec 16
He actually played pretty well against Caldwell in the opener, he had 10 points and 10 boards. Might have been their best player that night. Was told River has some nice shooters and a decent big. We don't play Friday, might try and make the game.
