Re: River Valley Raiders New Coach?

I dont think the number is relevant at all. Look at the type of people who are transferring. Maybe some kids switched over to county schools who werent looking to participate in sports or were not your top-level players, but I can think of a number of top-level athletes who transferred from the coun...

I'm pretty sure his last name ends in an 'e.' Not to play semantics with you. However, I don't think it insignificant that you literally copy & pasted this post into the other TVC thread. Add some actual insight, don't just promote "your guy." Insight doesn't come from spamming the sam...

Re: Question for Gallia Academy XC past and present

Hey coach, I'm not sure exactly how far it is around that loop. I can tell you that it is 3 miles to run a loop all the way around downtown Gallipolis (starting at the parkfront on 1st avenue, going all the way down to the corner where the auto garage is and turning left to run by the Holzer Sycamor...

Re: South Point @ River Valley 1/26

Personally I wouldn't want any players on the team that are the wishy-washy type and choose not to play because they "don't like the coach." That's a weak mentality. Blaming someone who will never make a bad pass, miss a key shot, or even take a shot at all is an exercise in futility. Work...

Re: 2010 Point Pleasant Track Meets

Great to hear that you guys got a track put in along with the new school. That makes Point the only all-weather surface around except for Rio Grande. For schools that don't want to make the trip to Fairland, Athens, Marietta, Jackson, etc. for every meet (especially weekdays) this is great news. It ...

The things to remember this time of year are to always run in the daylight (and especially avoid twilight--the time right before the sun goes completely down and when objects are the least visible--not the book for you young'uns) which is admittedly harder to swing in the winter, and try to avoid th...

The atmospheric effects of Gavin power plant are felt on a much wider scale than just Cheshire. The only real difference is that the people living right around the plant were the proverbial thorn in AEP's side. It was worth it for AEP to offer them a settlement and prevent any future litigation for ...

Good idea. This can be a great way for folks on the team, parents, alums, etc. to track whats going on down there in Raider country.

Re: WK 6 (0-5) River Valley @ (0-5) South Point OVC

I hate to be the negative one all the time, but can't almost every school say that? I'm sure there are always kids that a coach would love to have out for the team. truth is, it has been proven over and over again that talent doesnt get it done when it doesnt want to be there. What good would someon...

Great to see another program being started and building itself up in the area. It can only mean good things for the level of competition, as well as the district numbers. Those are always a sticking point. The more full teams that toe the line at districts, the greater chance there is that they will...

Re: River Valley Meet - You are invited

Little late, but glad to see the meet went so well at the new venue. I'm sure Coach Sayre would be proud to put his name on it. He touched a lot of lives and taught a lot of kids some important values. I'm one of them, and can't thank him enough for all that he has done for me. Now that the course h...

Re: Week 5 River Valley @ Waterford

I don't think simple involves running it up the gut necessarily. What's wrong with the I-formation, running simple passing plays, and sticking to the "classic" offensive strategies. Running a spread to load the field with more receivers (which takes a great h.s. QB to even read all of them...

Blizzard man, correlation does not equal causation. How do you know it was not another factor that has caused their lack of success. There were a couple good years thrown in there in 03 and 04. That offense, under Deel, was fairly simple. There are plenty of other factors that could have caused the ...

Re: Week 5 River Valley @ Waterford

Why would RV ever run a spread offense?! As a general rule, when you have a traditionally weak program and trying to turn it around...you simplify . Spread offenses should be reserved for the most experienced and talented squads. You need some pretty good wideouts, and a great QB as a centerpiece to...

Unfortunately, when statutes are passed like title IX they have little power until the court interprets their meaning/intent and provides case law through prior litigation. Re: Where Did Last Years Seniors Go

You rarely get offered to run anywhere without prompting the coach first. You have to find your own fit and go there, taking care that the school is good for you and you can pay for it--there isnt much money out there for running.
